Fall Semester

Sep 06, 2007 18:25

I just realized that I hadn't made my usual "this is what I'm doing school-wise this semester" post, so I thought that I better take the time to remedy that mistake. ;-)

First, let's talk about Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

At 8:30, I have Ancient Near East, which is my upper level history class for the semester. It's really not that bad, other than Dr. Collin's tests, but it's not exactly what I'd call the most interesting way to start the morning. Right after that, at 9:30, I have Speech Communication. It's a freshman level class that I just haven't been able to work into my schedule until now, so it's my easy class for the semester. I've had plenty of practice with public speaking by now, so I can actually have fun in there. 10:30 is when we have mandatory chapel, which lets out at 11:00 (at least, it's supposed to let out then.) I pretty much dash out as soon as it's over so that I can grab a quick lunch. Then, at 11:30, I have Topical Bible Studies. It's actually an interesting class, since we actually talk about some of the more controversial topics that usually get pushed to the side and ignored at my school. At 12:30, I have another Bible class... Paul's Epistles IV, which is a study of the books of Romans and Galatians. It has a definite historical aspect to it that makes it fairly neat, especially since the professor in charge spent the summer in Rome and the surrounding area.

(For those of you who don't know, it's required that we take at least one Bible class each semester. I'm taking two upper level classes this time to fulfill requirements so that I can take whatever Bible class will fit into my schedule next semester, even if it's some 100 level one. Since I'm trying to get the rest of my classes done with next semester and next summer, so that I can do my student teacher during the fall of '08, I need as much flexibility as possible.)

I have a short break after that until it's time for my 2:30 class, which is only on Monday and Wednesdays. It's Lifetime Wellness, which is another 100 level class that I haven't been able to work into my schedule until now. I'm doing an honor's contract in there: I write a 5-page paper (which will take me about an hour or two of work, tops) and create some PowerPoint presentations for the professor to use next semester (since he doesn't exactly know how to make decent ones), and as long as I make an 80 on all of my tests then I get an H grade (also known as A with honors.) It's not much extra work, and I won't have to worry about studying quite as hard for the tests - which everyone says are pretty difficult - so it's a pretty good deal for me.

Also, I'm vice-president of the history club this year. Obviously I have some extra work for that throughout the week, but the main killer of time will be the biweekly meetings on Monday nights.

Now, onto Tuesday and Thursday.

I don't have any classes in the morning, but I have a job tutoring at 9:15 both days. It lasts an hour or so, and then it's off to 10:30 chapel. After that, I have plenty of time to eat lunch since I don't have any class until 1:00 - Reading in the Content Area. This is one of my upper level education classes, and it's definitely going to be a bit of work later on in the semester. The same goes for my 2:30 class - Tests and Measurements, another education class. Of course, with that one, Dr. Marvin's already started us with the papers. Once that's over a little before 4:00, I have half an hour to go dump my things in my room and make it to band practice by 4:30. It lasts until around 6:00, which is when I get to go eat supper.

So, yeah, that's my schedule at the moment. Add in time to work on homework, do research for papers, practice my flute, work on various history club projects, etc. and it's going to be an interesting semester. :-/
