I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but right after Laura moved in with me I met my mom halfway between Freed-Hardeman and home so that I could get some books, DVDs, and manga things that I'd left at home so that my last roommate wouldn't run screaming in terror when she met me. Anyway, that included about a third of my manga collection from home.
I convinced Laura to read the Saiyuki manga ... and she didn't like it. *theatrical sigh* You can't say that I didn't try.
Seriously, though, I really wasn't expecting her to fall in love with it. It was a little too gory for her tastes, and some of the more controversial subject matter wasn't her cup of tea. *shrugs* Of course, I'm now in the mood to re-read it, if I even find the time.
In other fandom news, I convinced Laura to watch the Battlestar Galactica miniseries last night. I think it went pretty well. *grin* And one of her friends walked in about halfway through, so we took a short break to fill her in on everything that had happened up until that point. Then she finished the last two hours of it with us.
Needless to say, I'm pretty sure I foresee a marathon of the first two seasons taking place in the near future.
Oh, for those of you who've been trying to convince me to watch Farscape, you probably want to go give Laura a hug or something. Her sister's boyfriend has the entire series on DVD, and she's planning on borrowing it from him in order to "force" me to watch it.
I'm completely heartbroken, obviously. ;-)
