I like Diamond and GG&S, but I've had it since it was published and have only read about 3/4 of it. XD

Luckily, once you get the gist of the general argument, that geography and ecology determine history, the majority of it is mostly examples of such. (The bit that made me go "Oh ... yeah" the most is where he talks about how agriculture can spread east-west but not north-south, because of climate bands, which makes so damn much sense.)

*nods*

My history professor adores this book, so he's covered a lot of topics in it during the last two semesters. He even spent a whole class talking about the east-west versus north-south when it came to the spreading of agriculture and ideas. That's helped me get through quite a bit of it.

Thanks. *smile* I've got another Rodney-centric story that I'll post as soon as I have the time. (It's serious, hence the "light-hearted" for this one.) Plus I'm going to try giving the Ronon/Teyla a shot.

I think I have to read Guns, Germs, and Steel for AP World Cultures next year. It's the required summer reading book.

It's interesting, but kind of dry in places. *shrugs* At least, that's my opinion.

Ooh, I bought that book in the Amsterdam airport! It was entertaining on the plane (well, until I fell asleep. Wine is free in coach on transatlantic flights) but I never did finish it. ;)

*glances at 1/3 finished book*

It's got some interesting stuff in it, but I'll admit that it's not my usual cup of tea.
