One of those RL updates...

Feb 05, 2015 21:18

First of all, for the first time in several weeks, I actually felt human today. I'm not entirely certain what the difference was, but I think that it might have been that I've been more depressed than I'd realized so it's a pretty big difference now that it's gone away.

Or maybe at least part of it was that the President, who's been in a bad mood for a week, finally seemed to be in a better one. Which greatly improved the mood of everyone at Unnamed Nonprofit.

In other news, I had my appointment with the neurologist today. He obviously doesn't know anything for certain after just one meeting, but based on what I told him and what he saw when examining me, he thinks that I've been suffering from chronic headaches that have had the occasional migraine mixed in (most likely they've been starting out as headaches and, after having the same headache for an extended period of time, some of them have been then turning into migraines).

For now, he's told me to take a large dose of ibuprofen whenever I start getting a headache and given me a prescription for Fioricet if the ibuprofen doesn't work. I'm also going to be keeping track of my headaches (breaking it down by time of day and pain level) and, at least one or twice a week, taking my blood pressure so that he can see if there are any patterns. I'll have another appointment in 2-3 months (or earlier, if needed).

So, yeah, we'll see how it goes?

Let's see...

I've officially signed my lease for the next year, so that's one less thing to worry about. There didn't appear to be any surprises in it, although I really was hoping they'd forget that my lease technically ends two days before the end of March and that I had pay the difference for those two days. (Spoiler: they didn't forget.)

They pulled us aside at Unnamed Nonprofit today to ask if anyone wanted to work on Presidents Day. It was completely voluntary, and if nobody offered then they'd stay closed as planned. Enough of us said "sure" that they're going to be semi-opened; the office will technically be open, and the phones will be on (since a couple of us in customer service said we'd come in), but anyone who doesn't want to work will still get the holiday. Those of us who work that day will get to save a day of PTO when the December holidays roll around.

(The reason we get all that time off at the end of the year is that we give up two holidays, Columbus Day and Veterans Day, and three days of PTO. Unnamed Nonprofit gives us other two or three days. In this case, those of us who work on Presidents Day will only have to give up two days of PTO rather than three. Which, hey, I'd much rather save my time off for things like Vividcon or long weekends during the summer so I can head to the beach, so it works fine for me.)

Hmm. What else?

I finally got my hair cut after work, which was something I've been needing to do for a month but have kept putting it off. It was long enough that I was actually having to use a towel to dry it! I couldn't just run my fingers through it! It was horrifying! :-P

I still haven't even looked at Tumblr. Tonight and tomorrow are dedicated to putting in hours for Part-Time Job, and then Saturday will be spent finishing a couple of Mass Effect fics that have to get done this weekend. So I guess I'll finally start trying to catch up on Sunday? Maybe? It's going to take awhile, so we'll see.
