Wishlist Meme
How It Works:
Post to your DW/LJ (publicly or locked) with a list of ten things you want to receive for the holidays. They can be anything, from a personalized DW/LJ icon or drabble to a purebred puppy - as long as all the items on the list are things that you genuinely want.
If there's anything on your list that needs to come to you through the mail, make your shipping address available, but please be safe about it and don't post that part publicly - just specify how people should go about getting it. (Note: In my case, just send me a PM if you don't already have it.)
Next:
Look around your circle/friends list for others who have posted the meme. (The more who do, the better this works, so encourage them!) If you see a wish you can grant, GO FOR IT. You might find a little thing you can do for free that will make someone happy, or you might just discover that a stranger is longing for the exact boxed set of DVDs that you no longer want.
Don't spend money unless you want to, and don't commit to more than you can handle without stressing yourself. There are no rules to this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. If someone surprises you with a gift certificate to the restaurant you never thought you'd get to go to, don't feel guilty or obliged to return the favor. The point is to spread around a lot of opportunities to grant wishes - use them as you see fit, and remember that your list gives those opportunities to others!
Tips:
Dream big, but stay practical. If you really want the Mercedes, put the Mercedes on the list, but don't forget that you also really want some feedback on the story you wrote - so put that on the list too. It's fun to imagine something huge happening through this meme, but we'll recognizes the unlikelihood of it and make sure our friends still have a chance to do something thoughtful that's within their means.
Put limits on yourself for what, but not who: if you've decided that you can spend a few hours drawing a picture, but none of your friends are asking for one, keep looking for wishlists - you might even make a new friend or two! Ask people to link their lists for you, and don't be afraid to post your own in a few places.

The Wishlist:
1. Absolutely anything from my Amazon wishlist.
2. Sign up for a Neopets account using a referral from me. It takes less than five minutes to sign up, verify your account, and create a pet, and I'll get all sorts of nifty prizes if you do. If you're willing, simply leave a comment with the e-mail address where you'd like me to send the invite. Or just click here!
3. Music recommendations. I love music of all kinds, especially songs and/or artists that I'm not familiar with. Almost every song I've ever made a vid to has been one that someone else has thrown in my direction, and I'm always on the lookout for new things. Links of some sort would be amazing, whether it's to a download or a streaming playlist or simply a video on YouTube so that I can actually hear the song and be certain it's the version you were recommending.
4. Amazon or Etsy gift cards for absolutely any amount. Seriously, any amount. At all. Even $1 would be put to good use.
5. Fanfiction recs. Any fandoms, any characters/pairings, any genres, etc., though anything related to Harry Potter (especially ones featuring Percy Weasley in a prominent role - why are you staring at me like that?), The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, Mass Effect, Once Upon a Time, or Star Wars (preferably original trilogy or Star Wars Rebels based) would be at the top of my list at the moment. Long, plotty stories would be absolutely amazing. I'd absolutely love links to your rec pages or being pointed toward your favorite story right now. My own bookmarks can be found on pinboard.
6. BPAL. I love their perfumes, but I can't afford to splurge and buy any very often. If anyone has some imps/bottles that didn't work out for you that are simply sitting in a box somewhere and gathering dust, I'd be thrilled to take them off your hands.
7. Candles! I love candles, especially during the winter, and I pretty much keep them burning constantly. Scented candles are my absolutely favorites, and pretty much all scents are fine with me.
8. Airline miles, specifically ones for American Airlines.
9. Make a donation to a good cause such as the Alzheimer's Association, Doctors Without Borders | Médecins Sans Frontières, Heifer International, IAVI, Planned Parenthood, etc. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it means something to you.
10. Earrings! I adore earrings of all types. I technically have seven holes in each of my ears, although I hardly ever wear the ones in the cartilage so they're probably closing up by now. To give you an idea of my tastes: this is one of my favorite pairs of all time, and I adored this pair for years until they fell apart on me, and I probably have several dozen pairs from the Silver Forest collection, and I have a ridiculous number of shops favorited on Etsy that have all sorts of gorgeous earrings.
