One of those RL updates...
I haven't been feeling that great the last few weeks, so that's part of the reason I haven't been posting very much. I've had several headaches from hell, which basically left me with no energy and not much inclination to do anything other than work and sleep.
It's been... pretty stressful at Unnamed Nonprofit, so that hasn't helped much. A coworker went into labor six weeks earlier than expected, and she didn't have time to train someone to take over her various jobs because, you know, six weeks early. Well, let me rephrase that, she had been training someone, but that person has been in the hospital for the last three weeks and isn't expected back anytime soon.
Anyway, yeah, they've stolen a few people from my department to go help out in the understaffed one. Except the people they chose to go help out really don't want to be working in that department for some personal reasons, so that's been causing some drama. Add in the fact that some of the higher ups don't seem to realize that even though the slow season is a good time to throw extra projects at us, there's only so much that can be done in a day without completely ignoring phone calls and e-mails? Well, I suspect that I have a fairly good idea where my headaches have been coming from.
Don't get me wrong, it's still 100x better than any of my previous jobs. It's just a bit frustrating because most of my coworkers are taking days off here and there to escape from the stress that we're all feeling, but because of the upcoming wedding (which doesn't qualify as a vacation at all) I don't have any PTO to spare if I want to be able to to get paid while I'm off at Vividcon.
On the positive side, we're closed the 3rd and the 4th, so I'm really hoping that having a four day weekend will help. Fingers crossed, at least?
Now, if only I can force myself to come up with the energy to really clean my apartment for an hour or two, before the black fur that I keep finding everywhere manages to turn itself into a new cat...
