The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Dec 14, 2013 21:10

I never actually posted about it, but I went to see a midnight showing of The Hunger Games back when it first came out. (Well, technically it was an 8pm showing. No idea what was up with that, but I wasn't going to complain because it's much easier to work the next day when the movie starts at 8pm than when it starts at 12am. I'm just saying.)

No spoilers, but I quite enjoyed it. Catching Fire is my favorite of the books, and the movie didn't disappoint. There were a few things that I wish hadn't been cut, but for the most part I wasn't surprised not to see them considering in most of the cases it wouldn't have made much sense thanks to them also cutting out related scenes in the first film.

The casting was surprisingly awesome. The only one who wasn't quite how I'd pictured him was Finnick, but it still worked after I had a few minutes to get used to the actor. I'm at least cautiously optimistic about the next two movies, but Mockingjay is very much my least favorite of the books so it's going to take some work on their part for me to really enjoy them.
