Post-Vividcon: Possible New Fandoms
As always, I walked out of Vividcon with at least some interest in a couple of new fandoms. No idea if I'll actually manage to get into all of them, but they've at least been put on the list.
Let's see... first of all, there's Game of Thrones, which was actually already on my to-watch list. I tried a few episodes back when it first started but just couldn't get into it, but I tried again not too long ago and wasn't nearly as bothered by some things. So it's definitely moved to the top of the list after I finish my Babylon 5 rewatch.
Once Upon a Time was already on my list as well, but I'm definitely going to have to move it up closer to the top. If nothing else, I want to know what everyone on my circle and friends list (and Tumblr and Twitter feeds) keeps talking about.
amnisias's Justified vid has convinced me to at least give the show a chance. I'm been kind of curious about it the past few years, but the area of the country it's set in is very similar to where I grew up in a lot of ways. (Not in all mind you, but some. Rural Kentucky and rural Tennessee are very much two sides of the same coin; different and the same both.) Now that I've been living elsewhere for almost three years, I think that I might be at the point where I can watch it.
I don't think that I'm ever going to be able to watch Parks and Recreation (believe me, I've tried, but it hits my embarrassment squick way too much). Still, some of the vids this year definitely made me curious about it. Probably not curious enough to watch it, but curious enough to at least look up episode summaries.
I'm seriously behind on Young Justice, but every time that I see beccatoria's vid it makes me want to get caught up. I definitely need to work on that.
Also? For the record? I really want to rewatch Death Note, Quantum Leap, and The Sentinel after some of the vids from various shows this year. Especially The Sentinel (and it's all greensilver's fault.) I just... want to try to find some better quality video to watch than the barely watchable files I have. (I'm open to suggestions. Or links.)
