Long Weekend...
So, yes, it's been a very long weekend. /o\
As I said in my last post, our power went out around midnight on Friday night/Saturday morning, in the aftermath of the storm that blew through the Washington D.C. area. It didn't come back on until around 2am this morning, so it's obviously been a very hot, uncomfortable weekend for me,

I didn't sleep very well on Friday night, and I woke up at the crack of dawn on Saturday. I then spent the day wandering around the apartment in my underwear, reading a couple of books, playing Pokémon Black and Pokémon Platinum on my DSi, running out to my car from time to time to charge electronics, and doing some basic tarot readings in hopes of getting myself acclimated to my newest deck of cards. I was also very thankful that, while the power was out, we still had running water; cold showers are kind of amazing when it's 90+ degrees inside.
Saturday night, I actually managed to fall asleep and stay asleep. (Mainly because I got almost no sleep the night before, I expect.) I still woke up pretty early on Sunday, though, which was kind of a bummer because I was running out of things to do. It was even hotter inside than it had been the day before, though there was at least a little bit of a breeze. I ended up walking to the grocery store around midday to get some food (applesauce and rice snacks - not really that filling), and then I spent the rest of the day playing video games and cursing at Pepco every time I made the mistake of checking the status of our power outage.
Sunday night, I said screw it and went to bed around 10pm or so, just as soon as it was too dark to really do anything else. I almost managed to fall asleep, despite the heat... except, a little before midnight, a certain someone with pointy teeth, a fuzzy tummy, and no tail decided to try to jump in my window. And, you know, in the process managed to knock over 3/4 of everything on top of my computer desk.
I cleaned up the mess and tried to go back to sleep. And then, just as I was almost asleep again... the power came back on. Which, yay! Power! But, boo! Awful timing.
So, yeah, I ended up getting basically no sleep whatsoever last night. It was great. But at least there will (hopefully) be a nice, cool apartment waiting for me once I make it home tonight. After I work the late shift. And stop at the ATM at Gallery Place. And go to the grocery store to buy milk.
And then I can wash clothes! And catch up on reading all of the fic that I've been bookmarking on my phone the past few days! And catch up on Neopets! And, well, collapse unconscious into bed at a ridiculously early hour.
