I feel a bit like a traitor saying this, but I've really started reading a lot more now that I have a Kindle. I've mentioned before that I'm a speed reader, and because of that I tend to blow through books really quickly. I usually kept a book in my purse, but a lot of the time I'd finish it and then, depending on where I was at the time, not have anything else to read for hours.
The Kindle's changed that. If I finish one book, all I have to do is push a button in order to start a new one. It's... really convenient. (Not that I don't still love actual books; it's just that, when I'm out and about, they're kind of inconvenient. Especially the longer ones.)
As I've already mentioned, right now I'm in the process of re-reading The Dresden Files from beginning to end in preparation for the new book coming out. Uh, yesterday. I would have started the re-read a few days earlier if I'd realized it was that soon. Once I'm finished with those, I plan on hitting the seven Harry Potter books again.
Other than those, I've already re-read
jo_graham's Numinous World series (Black Ships, Stealing Fire, Hand of Isis, and The Ravens of Falkenau & Other Stories) three times each, the Temeraire series,
jimhines's Princess series (including reading the fourth and final book of the series - hold me?), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, A Little Princess, Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and quite a few of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries.
... so, uh, yeah. Apparently breaking down and buying an ebook reader was a really good move on my part. Yay, technology?
(This post brought to you by me spending most of the weekend fiddling around with
calibre, trying to make everything on my Kindle neat, pretty, and organized. Just like I did with iTunes awhile back. And, uh,
Book Collector. And, you know, the physical books (and CDs, and DVDs, and video games) on my shelves. And pretty much anything else along those lines.)
