Quick Update

Well, I survived Christmas (well, and a belated Solstice in the case of Bear and Little Brother, not that my parents know they celebrate it) with the family. Lots of food, lots of Rook, lots of food, lots of Apples to Apples, lots of food, lots of random "how do you like it way up North?" questions (seriously, Washington D.C. is not another country, people, why does everyone down here act like it is?), and lots of food. Oh, and did I mention lots of food?

The internet connection at my parents' house has been coming and going for the past two days, so my online time's been a bit sporadic. Most likely because of the weather. It's seriously cut into my Yuletide reading, but I wasn't really expecting to get much of that done this weekend anyway. Unfortunately, my cellphone only picks up the 3G signals at my house if I'm at the kitchen table, standing on my head and balancing a plate in one hand. *grimaces* That's what it feels like, at least. I have to walk around for five minutes before I can pick up a signal, which is making checking my e-mail for Yuletide feedback somewhat difficult.

On that note, my usual *ahem* posts related to Doctor Who and Psych won't be happening until I get back to Maryland. To be honest, I'm not even sure I'll be able to watch the DW holiday special until then. Which is very, very, very disappointing. (ETA: Actually, internet seems to be holding for the time being. We'll see if it lasts long enough.)

Um, let's see. The parents dragged me to church with them this morning, despite almost no one being there because of the snow and ice, and I'm fairly certain that it was the first (and last) time that I attended a worship service in 2010. Not that I mentioned that fact to the parents, but yeah. It was slightly awkward having all these people who've known me since I was born asking lots of questions about where I'm living, how I like it, and - by the way - what church are you attending up there? (Answer: "Oh, I mostly have my own service in my apartment because I have to work most Sundays." Which... isn't entirely a lie. I mean, I do work Sundays. Nights usually, instead of mornings, but I work Sundays. And I technically have grape juice and matzo in the apartment, since when I first moved I did at least attempt to have my own prayer service followed by the communion. For, uh, a week or two.)

Right now, I'm still not sure when I'm heading back to Maryland. I expect that I'll probably drive back tomorrow, but it's not set in stone. I don't know for certain because I'm still waiting to find out what my schedule is for next week. I doubt it will happen, but I can't help but keep my fingers crossed that my manager will decide to give me my two days off at the beginning of the week since he knows I'm out of state and planning on driving back. *makes face* Whatever the case, unless the weather forecast changes, it sounds like I might be having a fun 14(ish) hour drive back with lots of snow and ice to keep me company.

So, yeah. That's been my weekend.
