I actually accomplished things yesterday! Not the things that I was planning on accomplishing, mind you, but things nonetheless. ;-)
Let's see... my schedule this past week was a little full, and by a little full I mean that there was physically no way possible for me to not go into overtime. Because of everything that's going on, corporate tends to frown when anyone goes past forty hours, and they've noticed that quite a few servers have been doing just that the past few weeks. We're understaffed, and the busy season is starting. It's getting to the point where they're either going to have to suck it up and hire more people or give up on not having multiple people go into overtime every week. At the moment, though, they're still trying their best to avoid it.
So I only had to stay at work for two hours yesterday before they told me to go home.
Now,
pocketmouse and I discovered yesterday morning that our internet was down, but I had to run out to work before we could get it fixed. She fiddled with it while I was gone, but nothing worked. When I got back, I ran over to Barnes & Noble to take advantage of their wifi and log into the Verizon website to see if I could fix things from there. When that didn't work, I found a contact phone number and wrote down my account number.
To make a long story short (too late), the following then took place: forty-five minutes on hold (with a computer recording repeatedly telling me that almost anything I wanted could be done online, even though it had already asked me if I had a working internet connection which I had answered with a loud "no") and another twenty minutes or so talking actually talking to a tech guy, most of which involved me sitting there and saying "uh-huh" as remotely reset things. All that matters is that, eventually, our internet started working again. And I got to hear a tech guy who appeared to know what he'd doing go "okay, that really shouldn't be possible" twice while trying to fix the issue. Which amused me.
Oh, somewhere in between Barnes & Noble and the phonecall of DOOM!, my hair magically turned red. I have no idea how it happened. *pause* Though that bottle of hair coloring might have something to do with it, come to think of it...
(Yes, pics are coming. Eventually.)
Also, because I'm a pushover, I let a few of my coworkers talk me into meeting them at the restaurant for dinner to celebrate one of them finishing her exams. Employers get 50% off their meals if we eat there on our days off, as long as we don't push it by showing up every single day we're off or anything like that. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. None of the coworkers I dislike were there, and most of the ones who showed up actually do get that when I plead antisocialness and disappeared, it's not because I hate them. Plus we were sitting outside on the patio (under one of the heat lamps, before any of you who live in this area ask), which is always nice because it means we don't have to interact with any of the regular customers who see us and automatically think we should be taking care of them even if we're obviously not working.
But, yes. My antisocial nature won over after a bit, and I left. I basically spent the next couple of hours catching up on internet-related things, reading the last few chapters of The Mermaid's Madness, and working on fic. Then I passed out around midnight and slept for thirteen hours straight.
... nope, not kidding. I have no idea why I slept so long, since I actually haven't been sleep deprived the last few days, but it happened.
