First things first. My laptop's pretty much dead, and I'm going to have to break down and buy a new one. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm thinking that I'll be sticking with Windows, and I don't want to spend a huge amount of money - though I don't want some cheap piece of junk either.
Now, onto fandom-related topics...
DC has sunk its claws into me just as tightly as Marvel did last year. Send help. Or more comics. Either work.
Note to self: seriously, stop not checking your Dreamwidth and LiveJournal reading lists for 3+ days. You know it's a bad idea. It's always a bad idea. Proof? Catching up on my DW reading took me to ?skip=100. LJ? Took me to ?skip=2200, by the time I added up all the filters.
... yes, you read that number correctly.
Let's see, what have I discovered while catching up?
I missed Stonehenge Apocalypse. There will be a viewing of it at some point in the future, however, preferably when I have plenty of alcohol on hand and no work the next morning.
Someone on my friends list is rereading the Animorphs books from beginning to end, and I'm thinking that I'll be doing the same thing in the near future. I never actually finished the series, even though I ended up reading spoilers years later, and I'd love to finish the last ten books or so.
There's going to be an
anime version of Supernatural. Huh. I didn't see that coming.
Speaking of Supernatural: wow, fandom. The latest round of fail is... really bad. (ETA: J2 fic, set in Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake. Info
here, if you really want to know what's going on. Seriously, though, lots of fail.)
Yes, I've seen some of the posts and such going on about

hc_bingo. No, I really don't want to get involved. I will say that, as a huge fan of the hurt/comfort genre (albeit leaning more toward the "gen" and "PG-13 or lower" versions than the "NC-17" ones), some of the comments I've seen have made me really uncomfortable. Not all of them; some people have made good points. But the ones that have basically said that my kink is something to look down no matter the situation, simply because it's h/c? Those bother me.

Apparently the A-Team movie was actually decent? I'll have to check it out in that case. I was really worried since, you know, this is one of my favorite childhood series we're talking about remaking.
Well, it looks like I won't be watching Criminal Minds anymore.
Apparently,
they've decided they don't need multiple female characters. A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster are both out, at least as main characters, "for financial reasons." Damn it. What happened to this show? It used to pass the Bechdel test in almost every episode. It used to have plots that made sense. It used to-- well, not suck. And now look at it. :-(
Now, if you'll excuse me, back to vidding. Because I think

kuwdora might kill me if I don't finish this vid by the Premieres deadline.
