TV Fandoms: Current Statuses

May 27, 2010 21:58

I'm behind in several of my TV fandoms right now, and I honestly just don't have the urge to get caught up on some of them because the last few episodes that I watched just... weren't that good. It's really kind of depressing. :-/

Ashes to Ashes. I haven't watched any of this year's episodes yet (funerals, pneumonia... it's been a busy few months), but I plan on catching up ASAP. It might possibly involve rewatching both series of Life on Mars and the first two series of A2A before jumping straight into the third series.

Being Human. I'm behind, but I plan on catching up on the second series as soon as I find the time.

Criminal Minds. I'm starting to think that I waited too long to watch this show. I marathoned the first four seasons in a scarily short amount of time, completely falling in love with the show, and I finished catching up on the fifth season just in time to watch "100." And, from what I've seen, the show started going downhill (very, very quickly - seriously, it's like the plots just stopped making sense and the characters all started acting seriously OOC out of nowhere) after that episode, just as I started watching episodes as they aired live.

Dexter. I'm a season behind, but I'm going to get caught up at some point despite already being extremely spoiled for what happens.

Doctor Who (and spin-offs). Yeah, I'm thinking this one's kind of obvious. Still watching, still in love, no plans on leaving the fandom ever anytime soon. :-P

Heroes. I gave up on this show halfway through last season, and I'm really not not feeling the urge to watch the rest of it.

House. I loved the first season wholeheartedly. I enjoyed the second season, for the most part. There were some parts of the third season that I liked, others that I hated. The fourth season was brilliant. The fifth season was hit-or-miss, but mostly hit. And I, uh, just never got around to watching the sixth season as aired. So, yes, I'm an entire season behind. I had planned to catch up, but - after hearing spoilers - I'm not sure so that I want to now. Thoughts?

Leverage. I'm caught up and eagerly counting down the days to the season premiere.

Lost. Relax. I said that I was going to sit down and watch it in all its cracktastic glory, starting with the pilot and going all the way through to the series finale, and that's exactly what I'm going to do. Eventually.

The Mentalist. I'm behind, and - while I do plan on catching up - I'm not in a hurry. From what I've heard, the second half of this season has gone downhill.

Merlin. I'm behind, but I plan on catching up on the second series as soon as I find the time.

Modern Family. This isn't my usual type of show, but I started watching it last week and fell in love. I'm slowly making my way through the first season.

NCIS. So, yes, I'm several months behind. I've been watching the show since it first aired, including the crossover episodes with JAG the spring before it started. I love the show. I mean, hell, I wrote a 40,000+ word fic that significantly featured its characters and plots. It's just started feeling, to me, as if it's going downhill. I mean, yes, there are a few things here and there that I still enjoy, where I can still see the characters and the show that I fell in love with. And then there's the increasing fail when it comes to female characters and plots that make sense and the characters' ability to not break major U.S. laws. I'm just... not feeling the love that I used to feel, nor the urge to catch up, and it makes me sad.

NCIS: Los Angeles. I started watching it because of loyalty to its sister show, and I just... stopped watching it when I stopped keeping up with the other show. I mean, I like it, but it hasn't quite grown on me like NCIS did.

Numb3rs. Someday, I'm going to watch the last two seasons of the show, if only for Colby/David. Maybe by the end of the summer?

Psych. I'm caught up and can't wait for the new season to start.

Sanctuary. I'm behind. Don't ask by how much. Trust me, you don't want to know. But I'm going to play catch-up as soon as I find the time. Promise!

Supernatural. I'm caught up. Tentatively looking forward to next season, based on the rumors I've heard.

White Collar. Caught up. Still very much in love. That's about all there is to it.

I'm watching The Simpsons and South Park from time to time, but they're not exactly cartoons where it matters if you miss an episode or skip around. Plus I'm not really fannish about them, outside of Yuletide, so... yeah.

As for new series that are starting this fall, there are a few that I'm at least thinking about giving a shot. I plan on trying out the new Hawaii Five-O simply because it has a pretty cast, half of whom are Asian. No Ordinary Family reminds me of a live-action version of The Incredibles, which is awesome enough, but then it had to go and have Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz as stars; so, you know, I'm totally there. Oh, and I'll possibly watch the new Nikita series, simply out of curiosity (though I don't have high expectations).,
