My Day in Summary . . . With Tattoos!

Oct 11, 2008 19:10

There was an Obama/Biden rally in Jackson today, so I left for there around 10:45 or so. doodlebuggey88 was actually planning on going, but sleep won out over leaving the dorm in the end so I was on my own. It was a little awkward at first, since I didn't really know anybody there (plus I was the only white person for the first hour, which meant I got a lot of stares - and I'm really not good with people focusing a lot of attention on me). It got better, though, after I got to know a few people. I stayed there for a little shy of three hours before I left to go get the aforementioned tattoos.

I'm sure most of you have already seen my ouroboros before, though it was still red when I posted pictures of it back in September. It's healed up nicely, and I adore how the shading turned out.

If you're interested, the kanji on the right side is uoza (Pisces) while the one on the left is usagidoshi (Year of the Rabbit). Since I typically follow the western zodiac more closely than the eastern zodiac, I put it on the right - which is my dominant side. (I'm basically ambidextrous, but I usually write with my right hand.) And I wanted them close enough to my ouroboros to make it obvious that they go together, but I didn't want them so close that it looked cramped.

I think that it turned out great. Matt wasn't there today, so Ned did them for me - and they actually look more unique because of it since he's left-handed. Of course, these two seemed like a cakewalk compared to the 3+ hour session that it took for my first one.

I was actually thinking about going back to the rally afterward, since it lasts until 9:00 tonight, but it was really hot outside and my poor back was aching a bit because of it. Since I really didn't want to deal with sweat getting into the new tattoos, I grabbed a burger from Steak 'n Shake (and got into a few interesting conversations with several people on the topic of tattoos, since it was fairly obvious that I'd just gotten a new one considering I was wearing a spaghetti strap shirt - Budo might possibly get some business from a few of them who loved my ouroboros).

And now I'm checking my friends list and trying to figure out what shows to get caught up on tonight. House, NCIS, and Stargate Atlantis are probably going to be the winners, but Pushing Daisies is tempting me . . .
