Yes, I'm really looking forward to it. I too love discussing these sort of things and if I can help spread the love of our sparkly boys and get more people to discuss them with I'll be more than happy. ^^
The convention is called BLYG (which means shy) and it stands for Boys Love Yaoi Gakkai. It has been a returning event for a few years and has grown a bit every time. I belong to an association or club that has j-rock as our main theme (whe've begun to include j-pop too) and we make our own karaoke. Meaning japanese songs but with romaji for all those who can't read kanji. We are often hired for conventions to be in charge of a room where people can sing. This time a lot of the club has bigger responsibility for the whole convention so they know me and they know of my interests so therefore I was asked to speak.
Now it also turns out that the big, official, swedish expert on johnny's will also be speaking at the convention. She has published books on the subject and is the one newspapers and what not turn to for expert opinions. And one of my friends who is patrly responsible for the whole convention forwarded a mail to me when she had booked this expert where she accepted and also said that she really wanted to have access to the convention more days so she could come and hear me speak too!!! I got so nervous that I almost didn't know what to do... ^^;;; So having you in the audience would have been awesome moral support. And if you really are that interested I could translate the finished text.
But this means that these days before the convention the might be random musings of mine about the slash fandom just to try and straighten out my thoughts ^^
Also, I'm glad you're flattered, but it's not flattery. It's how I truly feel.
The convention sounds great. I really do wish I could be there. :-) And if you're willing to translate the text, then yes, I very definitely would be interested - very much so! But I also know it's a lot of effort, so it's really up to you... although I'm sure if you'd post a link on some of the comms, many other fans would also love to read it, along with your impressions on the reactions of the audience. Or the rest of the convention, for that matter!
How wonderful that the JE expert is going to be listening to you, too! I'm also impressed that there *is* an official expert on JE in Sweden! Around here, only a handful of fangirls even know about JE at all. It seems like JE is a pretty big deal in Sweden...
