The Disneyland Post!

Jul 03, 2009 14:39

I've got time to write about it right now, so I'm going to. It doesn't have pictures, nada.

We left on Friday about sixish. I had to interrupt my viewing of VH1 classic's MJ marathon. RIGHT in the middle of Stranger in Moscow. Disneyland has great powers over me to make me leave during that time. Sarah and I traveled many hours, it was hot and we couldn't believe how busy the LA roads were at eleven at night. But they were.

The next morning, we leave. But before we leave, I realize that I lack my hair gel. My. Hair. Gel. I am very sad by this, because Disneyland without hair gel is bad. But I deal. Again, Disneyland has powers over me, and I wasn't going to run over to Wal-Mart and pick up some cheap hair gel that would just end up leaving flakes in my hair. Did not want.

We go to check in to the Disneyland hotel. It was quick and painless. Our room wasn't ready, but given that we were there at like 6:15, that wasn't unexpected. Finding parking, on the other hand, was a problem. The directions were confusing, we went the wrong way, and had to go backwards on a one way street. Again, it was six in the morning, so things weren't crowded, thankfully.

We park in the parking lot, leave our stuff in the car, and head over to the Storyteller's Cafe for our first breakfast reservation. Bananas french toast is win. And I got my picture with Meeko!! I also got pictures with Baloo (meh) and the younger bear from Brother Bear. I assume Kinai, but given that I've never watched Brother Bear (Phil Collins love aside), it could have been the other one.

So, afterwards we get to the park. Disneyland. Beautiful. Marvelous. Best place ever. Straight to Space Mountain we go. Fun fun fun. We go again. Fun fun fun. Each time I walk by the Honey I Shrink the Audience thing I scream 'BRING BACK CAPTAIN EO!' Or some variation of such. Nobody agreed with me outwardly, but inwardly I bet they did.

We hit up the teacups, the Matterhorn, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours, and, best of all, the NEW Small World, complete with Three Caballeros cameos. Pleasant. My cousins were supposed to arrive at ten, so we hung around, not really doing anything in order to make sure we could get to them faster. Finally, upon hearing that they had left late, we go to Cali Adventure. Tower of Terror (AKA: the best ride in the damned universe), Tower of Terror again. Alas, it appeared that Off the Page, my most favorite store, was closed. Turns out that the store opened at 11 that day, which is good, because off the page got MONEY from my ass. Yes it did. We could have watched Aladdin, which only runs Thursday-Sunday, but again, I didn't want to be watching the show when my cousins showed up. Instead, we ran over to the wharf where I got clam chowder. My cousins claimed they were at the front gate. Turns out they were at the front gate of the PROPERTY, not the bag check area. So I wait and wait and wait some more. Finally, they come, and we head over to the hotel to put our shit away.

Back to Cali we go. Bree, my cousin, had never been on Tower of Terror. This was an oversight that demanded fixing. So we went. My other cousin, Chris, freaked out, which pleased the hell out of me. No, seriously, you have no idea. The picture is GREAT. We didn't go on it with him again. I didn't know he didn't like it, so when I found out I acted like a good cousin and was like 'you don't want to go, you don't have to go.' We rode Screamin', we rode the swings, and, sadly, we rode Soarin' because my cousins really wanted to ride them. We also rode the Grizzly River Run ride and got SOAKED. We got paired with this married couple and someone who was with them (friend, sibling, I dunno), but that guy had good hair gel. He got drenched AND his hair remained the same. Good times. Turns out the compartment BELOW the seats is not, I repeat, NOT a compartment for stuffins. It's a drain. My cousin listened to me, and her bag was SOAKED. Since we were all rather drenched, and we had dinner reservations at 6:50, we went to the hotel and rested, and changed.

Dinner reservations at Goofy's Kitchen. Good food. Small quarters. Cost 90 bucks to feed my cousins (the first of many expensive meals that I had to pay twice as much as I thought I would...), but there were pictures taken for my grandmother. And good food. Very good food.

We run back to Disneyland and ride pirates and a few other rides. We wait in the 40 minute line for Space Mountain because it's Space Mountain, dammit. And then we miss the fireworks, but that's okay. My cousins reveal that they have to spend the night in the hotel, which is okay.

Day two begins on a hitch. I have an early morning pass. My cousins all have three day tickets, which I think includes that because ALL three day passes do. Turns out, they don't if you buy the tickets ON the property. Denied. And I wasted my early morning pass for nothing. We eat breakfast and head over to Disneyland. Donald is there, front and center, as he should be, and I get a picture... but... I forget my camera! Cell phone camera picture it is. Afterwards, more space mountain. More Buzz lightyear. More matterhorn. Then we head over to the other side. Winnie and Splash. I get drenched, run back to the hotel room to change and grab my camera, etc, etc. Back to California Adventure. More screamin', more tower, more more more. We watch Aladdin, good times. We have lunch with the princesses. Good ass chicken. We go back to Disneyland to watch the parade. It's hot, those people are sweating and I feel BAD for them. It was rather meh. I finally hit up the Emporium, and spend some money. Money spending is good.

Back to Cali for dinner, not very good food. We decide to rest a little in the hotel. Before that, I run to Build A Bear and attempt to build the MJ bear. They don't have the stuff needed for the MJ bear. I was sad. They missed out. We go back to the park for more fun stuff before heading back. My cousin has the GREAT idea of watching the fireworks from behind the castle. It's actually a shitty idea because my neck has to run back and forth to see everything. I do, however, get to ride Peter Pan. We ride Space Mountain, I buy that picture. Then we go back. My cousins have to sleep in the room AGAIN.

Day three begins with the Lilo & Stitch breakfast. Good times. Then Disneyland. More of the same, but it's all fun. I go to the Pizza Port place that was recommended. It was fail. Bad pizza. Very bad. Bad and expensive pizza. We also get to ride the Toy Story ride, which had the longest wait this side of Nemo, but hey, whatever. Unlike Nemo, it was actually good. Dinner at the Pirate's Restaurant. My cousin buys LOBSTER. Then we wait for hours to watch the fireworks in front of the castle. They were worth it. That Dumbo was amazing, and I hate Dumbo. Given that it was my last full day at the park, I ran and spent like crazy so I could get shit shipped. My aunt and cousin pick up my cousins after midnight. I say my goodbyes and sleep in my bed all by myself. Good shit.

Our final day begins with packing, checking out, and going to Minnie's character breakfast. They have NINE characters there, it was amazing. The food was all right, not that great but not horrible. They didn't have mustard, which sucked. We go to California Adventure after and ride Tower of Terror twice. Last ride is the best ride. World of Disney store, confectionary, drive home.

All in All, great trip. Can't wait to go back. But never again in summer. NEVER AGAIN IN SUMMER. Winter, baby, WINTER!

life, disney
