I liked the faithful redesign - though I'd have preferred it if we'd never gotten a good look at the de-shelled Warrior; they could've saved all that for later, and just focused on his being as creepy and unstoppable as possible. (Shouldn't the Warrior have been hairier? And more breathy and sssssibiliant, come to that?)
The Ice Warriors being already out there in space en masse by the 20th Century has ruined a good few storytelling ideas, but I suppose they've already got the Silurians for 'doomed ancient race, home usurped by scurrilous humans' stories. Shame.

Shouldn't the Warrior have been hairier?
Yeah. Wikipedia quotes the costume designer for the new show including the fur in a list of items from the old design he considered bad without explaining why. I think it could be that the connotations of "ice" people have changed since the 1960s--people used to think, "Cold place, one would want to wear or grow fur." Now people think, "Cold place, one is made of or grows ice." I think it's a bit of a disconnect.
