Torchwood - Miracle Day Ep. 1

Bit of a babbling review here, probably nothing very spoilerific, but under a cut just for safety.
Short Opinion: The whole American accents thing is very odd.
The idea is very interesting. And disturbing. In a way I don't entirely want to process at the moment.

I've read that the first two episodes kind of... drag a bit, but that the third (the first written by Jane Espenson) is very good. I liked the premise, and I think this first episode was fairly expository which is why probably not too much happened and they just went "Hey! It's America!" for the entire episode.

I liked the girl at the CIA... her name escapes me at the moment. And I found Mekhi kind of annoying in this episode, but I suppose all he had to do for the first 50 minutes was "Pipe! In my chest! I AM BLEEDING." He also had all of the scenes that were (unintentionally?) hilarious - swallowing pills in pretty much every part of the travel-to-Wales montage, and I couldn't stop laughing every time he brought up having to pay for the bridge when talking to Gwen.

I do like the twist that Jack can get hurt/die. Although, honestly, he's the Face of Boe, right? So he can't die. Russell T. Davies is not George R. R. Martin. And I'm just going to leave it there in the event you haven't read/seen Game of Thrones yet.

But Yay Torchwood! Gwen with a rocket launcher? Awesome.

I'm interested to see where they go with the plot once they're stuck in America and not just coming up with the excuse to drag them there.
I think the CIA girl (Esther, I think?) will be interesting once she wakes up from the Retcon, and I'm excited to see Dichen Lachman's character if she ever actually gets involved.
I love the twist for Jack, and honestly, the Face of Boe is only a head in a jar.... lets hope this season isn't what got him to that point. >.>
