Two Babbly Reviews

What feels like a million years ago I was really excited about the BeatRockLove movie. Which basically was half of original Rikkai plus Araki are in a high school JRock band with a non-tenimyu lead singer...

So now years and years later I found a torrent somewhere and am giving it a watch.

Ok, I love Araki. He has been my favorite D-Boy for a long time. He has piercings and pretty hair and is from Kobe. He was a brilliant quirky Inui, and he cared so much about things in DD-Boys. But somehow everytime Genki is on screen I almost forget he exists. Genki has almost no lines of course, except for giggling and hanging out with Kento, but he was in his long hair phase and is so tiny and adorable.

Anyway, this movie feels very RockBand-y. Except if RockBand had as asshole lead singer who kept sabotaging your whole band. And really, I've watched these boys wander around wearing less awesome clothes and with /much/ less plot, so this is totally worth it.

And then it degrades into a fist fight and I'm like Akaya! Don't you hit Marui. Just because he's being a dick doesn't excuse it. And I want to pet Kento for playing the idealistic happy one... poor baby.

The fact that they seem to have taught these boys to play guitar is... oddly sexy. Granted that could be the frequent appearance of tanktops too. Pink pants! Kento is wearing pink pants and they don't even fit him because he's a giant. They're about four inches too short at the ankle.

I get the feeling that Renn is the one with the most experience on the electric guitar though, Araki plays it a bit too much like an acoustic. Probably got coaching from Shirota if they weren't coached for the shoot.

Also, seriously guys. Did it ever occur to you to actually reherse an alternate lead vocalist instead of waiting for asshole-friend? I mean... none of you are exceptional maybe, but you're all damn good.

Fluffy ending as expected, but very worth a watch. And yeah... ARAKI can sing bitches. Why did lead singer have to come back anyway? Also, Genki is drummer. Just like Marie has been in HD lately. Yes, it's a stretch and yes, I'm insane. And Kento? I saw that little bit of a guitar solo. Very nice.

I wish there were more songs. I mean... there were two songs in Ai no Kotodama and he wasn't even a singer. Ooh.... maybe I'll put that on. I should watch a drama I haven't seen before but... meh.

In any case, a day or two later, my torrents for something very very shiny finished:

Ok, I'll admit that I was pre-sold on this show. But.... oh my god. So awesome. From the seriousness of Watson and his PTSD, to the slightly comical addition of Sherlock's text messages. (Which I admit to hearing in FayJay's voice, but that's not a bad thing. XD)
Sherlock is so brilliantly... odd. In a unique and wonderful way.
And the game in /on/.
I mostly want to sit here and squee about Mycroft and Anthea and the beautiful way that modern special effects can illustrate the way that Sherlock's magnificently brilliant mind works.
And dashing across London across rooftops and... just everything.
The first episode is masterfully executed. Watching Sherlock's brain solve the killer is lovely.
His eyes. God his liquid silver eyes. Clever, but with pupils blown wide and desperate, so desperate to be right, to be clever, to /know/.
Anyway, I'm certain that I'll rewatch that and have more details to ramble about sometime soon. For now, it's bedtime.

Also, I'm downloading the full collection of audio books. I will be extremely dissapointed when they are read by neither Mific nor FayJay.
