I ran out of fabric paint two hours ago, and I could have gone to sleep once I cleaned up my mess... but since I'm trying to shift my sleep to make me not insanely exhausted for inventory on friday, I seem to have some spare internet time on my hands. So today... have some random notes about.... the Taira!
-
Swifty webpage on family crests... turns out that Haruka was pretty accurate with that butterfly inside Masaomi's coat. So acurate in fact, that it's a wonder Kurou was too dumb to recognize it.
-Irony: Historically there was a Taira no Shigemori had three sons: Masanori, Masahira and Masamori. ....I think I know why they chose to name Masaomi what they did. (actually, there were five sons, but the other three weren't Masas). This Shigemori, was father to Tadamori who then was father of Kiyomori and Tadanori. Kiyomori then named one of his sons Shigemori, and later got Masaomi confused for the late Shigemori Jr. (From
Minamoto & Taria)
-The next time I have a chance to be in Kyoto, I would actually like very much to go see
the graves of the Taira. I know we'll hit Kamakura as well, but I'm always up for seeing more historical stuffs in Kyou.

Heian Real Life (as compared to Onmyouji)... I am really going to miss Geocities when it goes away. I saved my pages, and I've nabbed a few others as well... but I can hardly find and back up all the useful ones to my personal computer. >.>
-I think
this page would be great research for the armored costumes... if only it was still there and not just an image-less Google cache.
-The Heike butterfly is also known as the 'ageha-cho'. Which sounds really familiar.... (
this page has some awesome notes and picures about it as it relates to tattoos.
-
Hmmm... Apparently a moth-looking butterfly crest is also associated with Himeji castle (my favorite castle in Japan).
-And lastly..... damn you Kiyomori. Why do I find
THIS PAGE only /after/ I fake two of the very same emblems for different kimono and actually carve a wood block of
this one.
-It turns out that when I measure and space out the emblems on Kiyomori's robe, he has just enough space for a 2-inch kamon at the back neck of his robe. I'm thinking of
this one" for now... as it is very similar to the one I added to Masaomi's red kimono.
(Thanks to Yahoo!Japan Answers and someone else who had already asked for more info on the Heike ageha-cho crest.)
