OMG I LOVED THIS!! I grew up devouring the Pern books, reading and re-reading them, and I can still remember when the lightbulb lit about the whole mating flight thing, and the fact that there weren't any female riders mentioned. this was perfect!

could be! I remember reading, I think it was White Dragon, and there was the mating flight and I stopped and went 'huh. if there aren't any girl dragonriders, and the riders are totally caught up in their dragon's lust, and the two riders whose dragons pair off ALSO pair off, then that means...holy cow!' I don't think it was ever explicitly stated, and it's easy to overlook if you want to, but it's there.

I think it was the one where they're starting to have girls at hatchings besides just for the golds and I'm there doing the math and going, "Wait, if before it was only guys bonding the greens then... Eeeeww. *peeks through fingers* Can I watch?"

I really wish that Anne McCaffrey had been... marginally less stupid about the whole gay thing, because FOR REAL, her take on it is the most stereotypically stupid thing ever. Essentially, only bottoms bond with greens, blues are for tops or "masculine lesbians" or something BS-y like that, and browns are for bisexual guys, and bronzes and golds are for ONLY HETEROSEXUAL PEOPLE OMG SO STRAIGHT ONLY STRAIGHT. Screw that, is my professional opinion.

anyway, i just found this via spnstoryfinders cuz i was looking for more dragon-fics. i wasn't aware of their existence before *headesk*

anyway, i never read dragonriders of pern. i only know about it via a crossover fic that makes me like dragon-fic :D

i went to wiki it after reading said fic but there's just too many books so i decided not to read any. besides, the first fic i read is easy enough to understand so i don't feel like i need to read any of the pern original books and this one certainly doesn't require extra reading ;)

in case you are curious, the fic i'm talking about is Dragon Spell. you ever read it? the first two chapters are kinda hard to read but the rest of it is really good :)

btw, i mean to say i like aero :D
