(no subject)
So it's hiatus, and I felt like the world needed something a little cheerful, so I want to talk about a completely ridiculous subject: clothes.
For the most part, Sam and Dean wear really practical, really male clothes. They wear a lot of Carhartt, which is a brand designed for like - carpenters! Field biologists! People running around and getting muddy all the time! They own a lot of flannel, and a lot of jeans, and it's fantastic. It's especially fantastic when they're panning a shot up Dean in his boxers, but whatever.
Let's be honest, sometimes it doesn't work so well. Sam's jeans sort of fail to fit something like half the time. I'm starting to worry that Dean has an iron deficiency that makes him unable to ever be warm, he wears so many layers. There are promo shots of Sam in a 3/4 sleeve jacket, and let me tell you how many men wear 3/4 sleeve jackets. Oh, wait, zero, in the entire history of the world, because no man would be caught dead in one. Sam's shirts also never fit, especially in later seasons, probably because he is freakishly tall and freakishly broad shouldered. I also imagine that he probably didn't really care too much, S1, what anything looked like - he was replacing clothes that had burned up in a fire that killed his girlfriend, I mean. You aren't looking for a perfect fit on jeans.
But you know what makes me happy? The idea that their clothing stash is kind of thrift store dependent, and that they probably go through clothes pretty fast. I mean, Dean gets shot at enough that he probably doesn't keep shirts around too long. Theoretically, anything is possible! So, in no particular order, ideas I love.
1. Dean in tight white t-shirts with nothing on over them. You know, the kind every boy I've ever known has owned about twenty of, the Clothing Staple for underneath other things, that Dean doesn't seem to own any of. But he could! He really could, and I would so profoundly approve of that one. He's got great shoulders and a great tan and really? God, yes.
2. Sam in sweaters. I've got this thing for boys in sweaters with dark jeans. Maybe basic black or navy, whatever knit you want, in a size that actually fits him, and oh, god. I would probably die.
3. Let's be honest and say that Sam's taste in button down shirts occasionally makes me want to off myself. But think how fantastic he would look in something simple, that actually fit, like maybe a solid light blue, especially if he actually tucked it the hell in and wore a jacket over it, and whatever. I would be so extraordinarily sold.
4. Dean could wear glasses. Do I really need to say anything else? (Although you know he'd be ridiculously stubborn about it, until finally Sam was like, "DO YOU WANT TO CRASH THE IMPALA BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE?" and then maybe Dean would really grudgingly go through a phase where he tried to wear the ugliest frames ever to piss Sam off, and finally Sam would just pass over a pair of normal ones, maybe the really simple wire frames that don't have the lower rim, and Dean could wear them. Y'know, just while driving.)
5. Sam could stop sleeping in clothes. I mean, the whippet shirt is great and all, but please - white tshirt, black boxer briefs, nothing else, I cannot impress enough on everyone how fantastic that would be.
