I am interrupting my hiatus to point out that taxes are ridiculous. I cashed out a bunch of savings bonds this year, to pay for College Expenses and all that jazz, and now I have to pay eleven percent of it back in taxes. I would be totally happy to pay taxes on my actual, usable income, but this is COLLEGE SAVINGS and there's no way to deduct it because two decades ago when the bonds were issued, some smart ass put them in my name instead of my guardian's. (It's worth noting that if these bonds - being used for THE SAME PURPOSE - had been issued in my father's name for me, or even coissued, I wouldn't have to pay taxes on 90% of the income.) Federal government and IRS, I fucking hate you.
