Hoarded cats in Illinois need help

Jul 17, 2011 21:30

A group of cats were recently rescued from an animal hoarder's house in Illinois, by an organization called Illinois Valley Cat Taxi (who also do a lot of no-kill shelter and TNR work). Many of the cats have severe illnesses and infections which need immediate treatment. Information about the case and some of the cats most urgently needing help is here: http://cattaxi.org/2011/07/hope-for-hoarder-cats/ (warning: some graphic photos and descriptions of infections).

At this point, Illinois Valley Cat Taxi, which is a non-profit organization, needs donations to cover the medical bills for all the cats they've rescued so far. They estimate a total of about $2500, and currently have raised only half of that. There's a ChipIn on the webpage, and you can also write them a check at the address listed. Also, the cats will be in need of new homes after medical treatment-- we can't do much from where we live, but if you live near Mendota, Illinois and are looking for a cat, please consider adopting one of the rescued cats.
