Step Three: Knowledge is Power

Mica stretched, the cat’s paws bumping into Blu West as she lay on the couch, magazine in her hands and clunky Dr. Martens in the air with her legs bent at the knees. Blu glanced away from the glossy pages and shiny lies about celebrities that were enjoyable to read even so. One of her hands reached out as Mica’s paws pressed against her again, rubbing behind Mica’s ear, eliciting a pleased rumbling purr as she moved, pressing her body harder against Blu and demanding that all of the young woman’s attention be focused on her and not whatever she might be reading.

With an amused little snort, she reached out for Mica with both hands, catching her around the belly and scooping her up while rolling over onto her back, head cushioned by the arm rest and cat firmly placed on her stomach.

The medium length haired cat glared balefully at Blu for a moment, delicately posing above the human as though deciding if she would grace Blu with her presence and remain on her or not. Mick pawed at Blu’s stomach, kneading it and then without any warning simply flopped down, content for the moment at least although her eyes were still open a slit and watching Blu in case she tried anything funny.

Flynn was taking his sweet time, Blu decided, her thoughts running in a mock grumpy tone, absently petting the cat on her and generally fussing over her. Sometimes, she felt he was worse than a woman, the amount of time it took him to get ready in the morning - or whatever he might be doing in there, Blu hoped it wasn’t some kind of nervous breakdown or just hoping she would go away if he hid for long enough. She was confident he knew better than that.

At least this time if Blu was late for work it wouldn’t be her own fault. She rarely popped into Flynn’s before work but ever since his mysterious disappearance and return she liked to reassurance herself now and then that Flynn was still there and going to come into work. Blu hadn’t enjoyed her time without her coffee monkey and she didn’t plan to go through it again. Not if she and her steel tipped boots had anything to say about it.

An idea occurred to her as how to pass the time until Flynn was ready and she smiled brightly, hand moving from Mica’s ear to the top of her head, attracting her attention, cat eyes opening fully to stare - glare - at Blu, silently demanding to know what on earth she thought she was playing at. With one hand Blu sketched out the basic design for a bomb, fingers drawing in the air as she quickly went over the basics.

To be fair, Blu knew more about disarming bombs rather than building them but the basic premise was the same, so long as you work backwards.

“And if you cross the red wire and the blue one, it’ll explode,” Blu announced. Mica gave a loud meow at that, Blu nodding her head in agreement with a serious look on her face.

“You’re right, that wouldn’t do at all. It is only supposed to explode when you are a safe distance away and you choose the trigger…” With a swish of her tail, Mica clearly appeared to be on the same wavelength when it came to the details of bombs, Blu treating the cat on her belly as if she could understand, remember and take part in the conversation.

“Please, please tell me you aren’t teaching my cat how to build a bomb,” Flynn commented from his bedroom door, tone resigned. Blu titled her head back until he was in her sights - albeit upside down - with a perfectly innocent expression on her face. Mica stared at Flynn as well, the two pairs of eyes watching hi, acting as if he was the mad one for suggesting such a thing. Flynn stared back for a few moments before shaking his head and backing away, back into the bedroom and leaving the two alone again.

“Silly Flynn,” Blu remarked, shaking her head sadly at Mica, her eyes dropping back to the cat. “As if I could teach you something like that.” She paused for a moment, rubbing under Mica’s chin and causing the cat to lift her head to allow better access. Blu looked satisfied for a moment before she carried on. “He really should know better, all I was really doing was going over it again to remind us both about the details. You already know how to build a bomb don’t you Mica…”

A small little giggle followed that as Flynn carefully emerged from his room again, looking relived that all talk of explosions and explosives had ceased for the moment. Mica leapt from Blu as he came further into the room, darting over to press herself against him.

“Mica and I could take over the world if we wanted to,” Blu informed Flynn brightly, half rolling off the couch in order to climb to her feet. “You’re just lucky that we don’t want to right now.”
