As it pertains to media ...

This is just a general sort of announcement. It really irritates me to somehow be expected to go and see some movies, TV shows, or anything else simply because I am a geek, or a man, or because of any other label. I prefer to choose what I give my time to based on my own ideas about things. Will I listen to what others think of various media, be it music, movies, TV, or books? Absolutely. Will I change my opinion on things based on other's opinions? Perhaps. A lot of factors go into my evaluation of another's opinion. After listening to another, it is my own prerogative if my opinion is strengthened or lessened of something though, regardless of whether the other person was trying to raise or lower my opinion of something. Also, the more hype I hear about something, often, the less encouraged I am to give my time to something. The more that something is the next big thing or the next thing I am somehow expected to go insane over, the less I want to see it. The less pressure exerted on me by the media, advertisement, and yes, by peer pressure, the more I think something might be good and worth my time. So please, allow me to have my own thoughts and opinions, and do not be too shocked if I have no desire to see each and every big blockbuster. I am a man, most likely a geek, and probably several other labels too, but I am still of my own mind and I value my own opinion most of all.
