Maybe not, but someone on my friends list just pointed to this one (most likely NSFW; I only read the summary) about a gender-bending anomaly that gets reversed by sex. Sounds familiar (you bastard).
In the introduction to one of Larry Niven's anthologies, one of his professional colleagues points out that all writers drink from the well of ideas...and it's what they do with what comes out of the well that makes the difference between a writer who does something new and interesting and one who rehashes what's already been done.
That being said, when it comes to gender-bending anomalies, I've read Phil Foglio. Very few people should take that idea and run with it if they're not prepared to be copying his work.
Yep. And that doesn't go as far as even PG-13 (were it following a US ratings system) if I recall correctly, so there's a lot of ground they intentionally left out.
It's a deep well. Since the bar for fanfic is set low (everyone can write it, everyone can post it where it can be read) I'm usually not interested. The existing process for authors to get published is, I'm sure, stagnant, inefficient, and corrupt...but I'm going to have to let someone else tilt at that windmill. I read enough bad stuff as is - my editorial skills are good enough that if I'm going to read crap, I want to be paid for it.
I am not sure which disturbed me more, the fact that the uni-kitten has hoves fo no apperent reason, or Will in the Clown sweater AND gogo shorts. This is an image that will haunt me for at least the next eight minutes. Maybe nine.
