Vindicated

To everyone who thought the previous entry was about me not getting through to the next round of Idol, it's not la. It was about something else so don't worry yall good people.

There is so much crap going on nowadays. I wish people stopped playing church and actually have guts to make a choice between believing and not believing. We live in a generation where technology and individualism has allowed us to live a life of undo and redo, so much so that we no longer have to be responsible for our actions anymore.

Individualism is awesome and should be revered when used to excel in something which is non-conforming. But in Singapore we seem to practise a bastardised form of individualism which is more similar to self-seekingness. In the name of sensitivity and ambivalance, we have forsaken the virtues of discipline. What used to be called bad leadership and lack of guidance is now called "having faith God's sovereign will is done". Then if things don't turn out well it's not your fault.

Of course it is your fault. It is all our faults, mine too. If we don't have guts to take responsibility for our mistakes, how can we expect our younger leaders and our youths to do so? Talking about our mistakes is different from raking up the past. Having high standards is different from having a critical spirit.

There is way too much protectionism going on. Some people think it is natural for that to happen. Sadly there is only one problem with that thinking; It will lead to our downfall. A seige mentaility will only drain us further into moral debt and spiritual dryness. There is a reason why people want to challenge the status quo. And the more you try to cover the cracks, the more casualties will eventually arise because no one expected the walls to crumble due to the lack of warning.

Perhaps the walls must first crumble to allow any rebuilding.

Perhaps we can make our choice now.
