So, I saw Fahrenheit 9/11.

It was a good piece of propaganda, and I think everyone should see it, but it has enough flaws and blatant manipulation that it fails to be completely factual and therefore, it's hard to recommend as a documentary. It's obvious Moore's a good filmmaker, his experience from his two other movies really shine through here, he knows what he's doing. Unfortunately, he shoots himself in the foot with quick cuts that could have been taken anywhere and a few scenes that look good, but have nothing to do with the point he is trying to make, which is another problem: it's hard to discern what he's actually trying to say. The first 45 minutes is a tight ball of yarn, Michael Moore goes through everything that went wrong with the elections and the actions taken after wards and appropriately puts the blame on everyone. But unfortunately after that, Moore tugs on the string and radically changes the momentum and focus of the film, almost to the point of unraveling it completely. It apparent that he has countless hours of footage for everything imaginable but it is baffling why he chose some of the scenes he did. The second part of the movie somehow ends up in his home town, which shows it's deterioration and poverty. He explains how sometimes, the lower class has no other choice but to join the army. Sound familiar? That's because he showed the same thing in Bowling For Columbine. The movie then follows a mother of a son who was killed in combat. All these scenes move at a snails pace and they fail to end with a point. After meandering for a half and hour or so he finally gets back on track but it's too late, and the audience is already glancing at their watches. When the movie ended I was trying to figure out what Moore meant by all of this. He's unable to drive any ideas home and it could have shown a lot more than it did. It feels like Moore was holding back, like he was flying too close to the sun, got overwhelmed, and retreated back to his home. It's a shame the Michael feels the need to use his sleaze ball editing this time around too. There is so much footage of Bush doing wrong that there is no need to spice it up, but for some reason Moore is compelled to put his own special shine too it, which is completely unnecessary. In the end, anyone that opposes his views calls him a ranting liberal nut, and I can't disagree.
