Just came back from seeing Troy. Goddamn. I was so hyped for this film, so stoked that an epic was being made. A true epic harking back to the days of Spartacus and Lawrence of Arabia. I approached the altar of film with my mouth open, expecting an epic, but instead I got a mouthful of shit jammed down my throat. You'd think with stars like Eric Bana, Brian Cox (laugh, I did), Peter O'Toole, Sean Bean, Orlando Bloom, That guy from Braveheart, and motherfucking Tyler Durden himself Brad Pitt, you couldn't go wrong. Oh it went wrong baby. Although I can't quite figure out where it failed exactly. It lacked something that makes an epic epic. It lacked spark, pacing, and above all, a good soundtrack. Wolfgang Peterson should go hang himself.
On that note I would also like to say that I hate movie theaters, and I'm glad they are on their way out. Why in the name of all that is good and holy in this world would I pay 8 dollars to watch a scratchy copy of film with bad speakers and a noisy audience? For half the money of a DVD I get the privilege to see a movie with strangers only once. Tonight I had to sit next to these asians who felt it was an appropriate time to catch up in a language that wasn't English. Behind me a woman was answering her cell phone and in front of me my legs were cramped. Oh golly, theaters are fun. Not only does the stench of human BO mingle with the air but the smell of oily butter dives into your skin. Never again I say, well, after I go and cash in my free movie pass I got for refunding my Shrek 2 ticket (wink wink).
