Baccano! (light novels), Girls' Last Tour (manga), dreams, and a bunch of links

Books/Manga

I wasn't quite as engaged by Narita's "Baccano! 1933 The Slash - Cloudy to Rainy-" and "Baccano! 1933 The Slash -Bloody to Fair-," but he really brought it back with "Baccano! 1934 Alice in Jails: Prison." (These were volumes 6/7 & 8. So I expect 9- "Baccano! 1934 Alice in Jails: The Streets" will be pretty good too.)

I also received the 6th (and final) volume of Girls' Last Tour by Tsukumizu. Since I'd watched the entire anime last year, I kind of knew what was coming, but the mood was more upbeat than I'd quite expected. It's a simple manga, so I can't say it's necessarily something everyone needs to have personally on their bookshelf (but, then again at 6 volumes it's hard to go wrong). It is mainly about Chito and Yuuri traveling around in a post-apocalyptic world. ...I think they meet, like, two other humans during their wanderings, yet it's weirdly upbeat.

Dreams

Okay, when I wake up a lot for whatever reason in one night I'm not sure I really have more dreams, but I'm a lot likelier to remember them.

There are two dreams I feel like describing this morning- the first involved my mom wanting me to do something with cats who "weren't even our cats," but presumably cats my sister has been fostering (well, that got into my head fast, since she only started doing this is in...January? It hasn't been that long). I was sort of grumbly about whatever I had to do, but I did it (can't remember any more details though)

The second dream I want to describe involves my being out somewhere (a bookstore maybe?) and I hear a voice I absolutely 100% recognize- someone I met and made friends with in middle school. We were in the same middle school P.E. class all 7th grade so I always called him "Matlock" because that was the only name I heard him referred to by. (Later I found out his first name was Ryan, but I still continued to call him 'Matlock.') At that time, he had sort of short spiked-up, dark brown hair, but in high school, where we continued to hang out, he let his hair grow out- maybe a bit past his shoulders? Anyway, I think I've only seen him twice(?) in the intervening years and he has a more mature/short haircut now.

Now in this dream, Matlock seemed to have reverted back to his high school-looking self (at least hair-wise). "Matlock!" I called to him and he turned around- yes, lo and behold it was him. Now, among whatever other things he and I discussed at this very random meeting (stuff we always talked about- books, music, etc), Alejandro showed up and acted like he and Matlock were very good friends. It was the most insane thing to me, but both of them acted like it was completely normal...!
