seinen manga; josei manga

I didn't really want to have to, but I think I should open with the caveat that I don't feel like I'm "braining" too well these past few days, so, uh, if anything here happens to trail off or not make too much sense, well, there's that. ^^; I've found it much harder than usual to write this week, like I can't get my thoughts into order as much as I'd like...it's kind of frustrating, but I'm not sure there's too much I can do about it at the moment...

"What's that manga you really like about Vikings?" my mom asked and, thus, reminded me to look it up again via the local library system. So a few days ago, I just read Vinland Saga vol.9...! :D Vinland Saga is one amazing-looking manga, obviously really well drawn and researched, so it's no wonder that I enjoy it so much as a manga, but it tends to strike me as novelistic in plot, tone, and themes?
The plot of Vinland Saga only thickens as it stretches on, one complication adding to another as Thorfinn is unable to make a clean break with his past- I feel like a lot of Vinland Saga is about revenge vs. forgiveness and the author/artist does a great job of showing how hard it can be to forgive.

and in the opposite quadrant of manga demographics so to speak (though these are both omnibus manga, ha ha)

I also brought home and read vol. 6 of Princess Jellyfish. Which has obviously has had lots of time and room to progress way beyond the storyline of the anime (which is what got me interested in it though) and I've learned quite a number of things about clothing and the fashion world. But apparently trying to promote your wares as an independent/small designer is no easier there than when you're showing off your postcards/comics/etc.

"This is way too real XD;" I murmured to myself as I read:

...and tell me none of you have had the encounter they had prior to this where a girl wanted to order a dress and then came back having changed her mind...! At least at more of an artists-related event money's usually already changed hands vs. this scenario where only a form was filled out but, ouch, so harsh...

manga, books
