I'm pretty confident that I demolished the AP Government exam. I put on a standard MC performance and was never at a loss for words in the free-response. Having gone through the whole process now, I actually would recommend the class. It's a pretty easy A, a little study of the constitution and a few organizational hierarchies and you're ready to rock and roll. All else you need is to actually know a little about what goes on in Washington today. The discernible patterns one must understand for AP Gov. can be picked up. A lot of people dislike the class because there's a certain sociological element to it that can't be studied in the textbook. Also people disliked it because of Dr. Miller, but I just find the whole situation heartbreaking. The man is clearly in emotional exhaustion and completely unprepared to deal with a bunch of self-important teenagers who can't pay attention for more than 10 minutes. If people in the class recognized this and made some accomnodations to his state of mind, the class would have been more rewarding for all of us. Instead we glazed over or completely ignored the Doctor in the classroom, conveniently using his performance as an excuse for a half-hearted academic performance. Hopefully his next classes will be more responsible.
