I can't remember who I took this from - wasn't anyone on my flist, though, I just happened upon it. (Apologies for typos, my right hand is all bandaged up from an unexplained pain in my index finger).
This is supposed to be a 'one question each day' meme, but I have no patience for those so I'm doing them all now :P
A show that should have never been canceled
There are so many, but Firefly reigns supreme!
A show that you wish more people were watching
The State. I tried to get some people into it, but it didn't work. :( Such a shame, it's a really funny sketch show! And you've probably seen something that one of the troupe has been involved in.
Your favorite new show (aired this t.v season)
None. I'm still catching up on old seasons!
Your favorite show ever
Used to be The Simpsons, but it's changed to South Park. Obviously The Simpsons is still an amazing show, but South Park is grittier, and I like that, and it also hasn't declined in quality at all.
A show you hate
Keeping Up With The Kardashians, The Simple Life, X Factor, Big Brother, anything like that I cannot stand. 'Reality TV' is anything but. It should be changed to 'random people become celebrities for doing nothing and then we watch them crash and burn and laugh at how stupid they are even though we're the ones watching this shit TV'.
Favorite episode of your favorite t.v show
I have a fair few favourite South Park episodes:
3x01 Rainforest, Schmainforest: This is the episode which made me absolutely fall in love with South Park and I think it defined their style as an anti-everything show. Plus it has Jennifer Aniston and a decent Kenny storyline. Win, win, win!
2x01 Not Without My Anus: The Marmite episode. I love it! Had I watched it at the time, I probably would have got a little pissed off that they didn't show the resolution to the cliffhanger, but honestly, people need to get over themselves and see how funny that episode really is!
3x05 Tweek vs. Craig: Again, another decent Kenny storyline, it includes two of my favourite ancillary characters, Tweek and Craig, and also has that bizarre, trippy, real-life bit with Pam Brady. Oh, and Craig's baby sister flipping off her parents. Collectively, I think this is my flat's favourite episode!
There are SO many others. I'll list a few but won't give reasons. 4x05 Cartman Joins NAMBLA, 5x06 Cartmanland, 5x13 Kenny Dies, 6x09 Free Hat, 6x10 Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society, 6x11 Child Abduction is not Funny, 7x07 Red Man's Greed, basically all of seasons 8-12 (especially the Cartoon Wars arc and the Imaginationland trilogy), and most of 13 & 14 (so far).
Phew!
Least favorite episode of your favorite t.v show
10x05 - A Million Little Fibers. If someone asked me to define 'WTF???', I would direct them to this episode. I don't know if they were just tired from the Cartoon Wars debacle, but honestly, I cant sit through this episode it's so awful.
A show everyone should watch
Glee! Get over yourself, no one thinks you're gay, just enjoy it! Although if you genuinely don't like musicals then probably best to stay away...
Best scene ever
Basically all Cartman's scenes from Rainforest Schmainforest - it's the exact level of Cartman that I love, not too whiny, not too evil, just perfectly annoying! "BAD, that's a BAD three-toed sloth! *throws stick at it* Respect my authoritah!" XD
A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
Well, South Park. I was such a little douche when I was a teen, I refused to watch South Park because of the language and offensiveness. Then I got the fuck over myself and laughed my black balls off!
A show that disappointed you
Lost. I was forced to sit through episode one when I was forced to take media studies. I vowed never to watch it ever again, but then I found out Cynthia Watros was in it for a bit so I watched her scenes. I have retaken my vow. I just don't get it.
An episode you’ve watched more than 5 times
Oh, thousands.
Favorite childhood show
The Animals of Farthing Wood. I loved it (and still do!).
Favorite male character
Kyle Broflovski, South Park. He manages to be thoughtful and provocative while still being an 8-year-old kid.
Favorite female character
Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons. See above.
Your guilty pleasure show
Whale Wars. For the love of all that is holy, don't judge me! I started watching it after South Park lampooned it, and all the people involved are just so incompetent it's very hard to stop watching; you're not exactly rooting for them to succeed (even though they're against whaling, that's how bad they are), but there's a little part of you that says 'okay, well this plan seems simple, they can't POSSIBLY fuck this up'. But they do. Every time.
Favorite mini series
Either The Line or Horrible People. I know that's technically internet, not TV, but they SHOULD be on TV, especially Horrible People. It's so brilliantly funny!
First part:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmkJDRTG4hc Favorite title sequence
Reno 911! has pretty awesome opening credits. Also Red Dwarf and its unbeatable theme tune, South Park (in the later seasons; the season 14 credits are fantastic!), The Simpsons (before they inexplicably changed it).
Best t.v show cast
The Drew Carey Show. They all just seem to get along really well, and their friendships are what carried the show when the plots went a little off-track.
Favorite kiss
Jonathan Creek, when Maddy kisses Jonathan to get out of a horrible date, and they just get lost in each other - I literally melt every time!
Favorite ship
I kind of like Kyle/Bebe from South Park, but my favourite is still Brad/Ryan :)
Favorite series finale
It was Red Dwarf, before they did Back To Earth. Now it's probably Friends - 6 years later, I STILL cry!
Most annoying character
Oh, do not get me started. I'll just list a few from my favourite shows:
South Park - Cartman. I know he's meant to be annoying, and I do still love him, but he has been WAY overdone. Give Stan and Kenny some screentime, for crying out loud!
Drew Carey Show - Kelly. Again, she is a good character in small doses, but her preachy, morally superior attitude gets tiresome very quickly. Either tone it down a bit or turn it way up so it's funny instead of irritating.
The Simpsons - the bullies. They used to be good, but the recent writers have turned them into complete pussies.
The State - Kevin Allison. Sorry, Kevin, I do love you, really! But there is such a thing as overacting, and you tend to utilise it way more often than you need to.
Glee - Rachel. I have never before come across a protaganist who I hated so much. I don't understand how we're meant to be on her side when she's such a self-proclaimed self-absorbed, vapid, selfish, vicious bitch. Oh no, someone who isn't you is singing the solo! Ever heard of compassion? Kurt needed to sing Defying Gravity. Tina needed to sing Tonight. But noooo, you have better reasons: "I'm the best one here". Fuck you, Rachel. I don't even think you're that good, oh yeah, I said it! (I told you not to get me started...)
Best quote
I have two, both from South Park. The first one because it's just insanely funny:
Cartman: Why don't you move to San Francisco with the rest of the Jews?
Kyle: There are no Jews in San Francisco, you retard!
And the second, more serious, one because it sums up free speech beautifully:
Kyle: Sir, just think about what you're doing to free speech!
Cartman: No! Think about the people who could get hurt!
President of Fox: I...I don't know who to listen to...
Cartman: Okay, I'll make it easy for you. *points a gun at him* Pull the Muhammed episode, now.
President of Fox: Okay, I'll listen to you.
Kyle: NO, WAIT! You can't listen to him. He's a lying, deceitful monster who only wants Family Guy off the air.
President of Fox: But he has a gun.
Kyle: You can't do what he wants just because he's the one threatening you with violence.
Cartman: Shut up, Kyle!
President of Fox: I can't be responsible for people getting hurt. Especially me!
Kyle: Yes. People can get hurt. That's how terrorism works. But if you give in to that, Doug, you're allowing terrorism to work. Do the right thing, here.
[...]
President of Fox: How about I allow the episode to air, but just censor out the image of Muhammed again?
Kyle: I wish that was good enough. But if you censor out Muhammed, then soon you'll have to censor out more.
Cartman: No gay speeches, Kyle!!!
Kyle: If you don't show Muhammed, then you've made a distinction between what is okay to poke fun it and what isn't. Either it's all okay, or none of it is.
It blows my mind how perfect that scene is.
A show you plan on watching (old or new)
24. My poetry and performance tutor recommended it to me for story structure.
OMG WTF? Season finale
None, all the ones I've seen are fairly normal.
Best pilot episode
Green Wing. Considering how weird that show is, they really nailed the style right from the beginning.
First t.v show obsession
The Animals of Farthing Wood. I had all the VHS tapes lined up neatly in my cupboard :D Still adore it, as I said before!
Current t.v show obsession
South Park. Nuff sed about that one, I think ;)
Saddest character death
Hmm. Probably Wash from Firefly (even though that was in the movie), just because I don't understand why they did it. All the other character deaths served the plot in some way, but that just...didn't. Although Zoe did get all fearless and super badass. That might have been why. Still seems pointless to me, though... :'(
