valencia is sooo cute! if i could compare barcelona and valencia, i would say that it's similar to my experience in vietnam. barcelona is hanoi, and valencia is hoi an. valencia is much smaller and its sights are more compact. but it's VERY historic and i love the baroque style of the architecture. the girls wanted to hit up the beach again today, to which i kindly declined since i'm still rocking a little burn on my shoulders. i walked around the historical centre. i visited the BEAUTIFUL valencia cathedral which apparently houses the holy grail. it seemed plausible that it's the holy grail. but you never know with these kinds of things. it also housed the original intact arm of some important biblical figure to which the cathedral is dedicated to...it was all gross and mummified and shit. WHY would you want to display that shit?!!?
the city centre itself is very compact, and all the maps i have of it SUCK. all the streets don't make any logical sense in planning, and of course they're all very poorly labelled. so i struggled to orient myself but i eventually found my way back to the bus stop, but not before stopping at several other buildings as well and having mcdonalds for lunch.
tonight we're gonna cook at our pension apartment. the girls were responsible for food shopping since i was still napping when they came home from the beach. i duno what they bought but i eat anything so whatever. we're gonna leave again at night to see the centre of arts and science all lit up and cool. we passed by it this afternoon and it's one of the most modern buildings i've ever seen in my life! all the pictures of it online at night look gorgeous!!
luckily for us, there is also a festival going on tonight called the "noche de san juan" where they burn effigies and dance and whatever on the beach. we're going tonight so that should be fun and photogenic =)
