barcelona is beautiful. it does live up to all its hype. but i kind of see it as just another city with beautiful architecture, whereas in countries like cambodia, you're thrown into a whole different world that can't even seem to exist in the 21st century. so far, this trip has been more of a "vacation" than anything. not that i'm complaining of course, but it's different.
went to gaudi park today...i definitely recognize it from Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona. there were sooo many obnoxious tourists though...fml. so i couldn't be AS shutter-happy as my usual self (i like pictures of JUST buildings/scenary without people in them). but it's definitely one of the most beautiful public spaces i've ever seen. we had paella for lunch. i love paella but the girls seemed indifferent to the dish. we went shopping for a bit on the main shopping road. we bought stuff from Zara, H&M, and some other rando spanish stores. by the time we got back home it was pretty late. we had seen these posters for a club event at this club called Opium and the girls really wanted to go. i would've went too had i not felt completely drained and gross from walking around all day. i decided to go out on a night photography (always the best kind) excursion instead. i left at around 10:30 knowing that the subway stops running at midnight and i had set up to go to three seperate places that light up at night. i managed to make it to 1.5 of them. when i got to the second building, the torre agbar , it was around 10:55. little did i know, the lights turn off at 11:00 (wtf?). so i legitimately saw it lit up for 2 seconds, i didn't even get around to pulling out my camera and tripod yet, when the damn thing went off!!! mother fucker i was so mad. i met these mexican tourists who were also wondering wtf happened. they asked some spanish ppl around the area and they said that it goes off at 11:00pm. i wanted to head to my third and final destination but i didn't wanna risk it, so i'll just go to the last two tmrw night.
tmrw the plan is to go to the beach. i normally wouldn't be up for beaching so early on with what seems like a lot of ACTUAL stuff left to see and do. but we have another full day after tmrw...so i suppose that i can take it easy and relax. plus, we don't know what the weather will end up being like in valencia (for our planned beach day). and if i'm legit in a rush to take the rest of barcelona in on the last day, i can just split from the girls and do my own nerdy, historical sight-seeing. =)
