First, a little bit of job-related ranting. After being told numerous, conflicting things about cashiering, I've decided to do things my own way. And it's working. My speeds have been above average, over the past few days. I definitely have that part down, but it's the card pimping that's the hard part.
Yesterday, I was supposed to have the day off, but I got called in. It wasn't just for a few hours. I was there for seven hours! Part of it was because our debit/credit card sales have been down. They wanted us to try and get one card per cashier. >.< First of all, I refuse to force anything on anyone. Second, it's really not my problem if people don't want to sign up for cards. That's their priority, and not mine. And third...
...a tornado touched down, nearby. So, I got to experience Target's emergency procedures first hand. It was the first time I ever had to take cover, during a storm. Still, I wasn't scared, since it's very rare for a tornado to hit my hometown. I just took the whole thing in stride, and used the opportunity to get to know some of my co-workers better.
After worst had passed, things were pretty quiet for a while. I was looking around for stuff to do, but I could only do so much. I was subbing in for one of our head cashiers, since he was on his lunch break. So, I was basically getting paid to stand around and do nothing, which I took some slight sadistic pleasure in. When he finally came back, one of my superiors taught me how to zone. In other words, clean and straighten the lanes, so they look nice. So, I did that until it got busy again.
Another problem of mine, is the customers. I usually keep the small talk to a minimum, so I can focus on what I'm doing. Most of my customers haven't really bothered me, but there have been some that have been a royal pain. The ones I have trouble with are usually middle-aged women and parents with out of control kids. I've had to deal with two kids getting into my terminal and trying to mess with things, one of them being a butt-touching girl. I didn't let it show, but I was totally wanting to throw that brat out of my terminal; not just for feeling me up, but for being annoying in general. -sigh- And this is exactly why I have no desire for kids of my own.
Anyway, I guess it goes without saying that I've decided that I really don't like this job. I'm still going to stick with it, but I'm definitely looking for something better. I promised myself, from the moment I got called for an interview, that if I hated it, I'd keep looking. It's nothing against my co-workers, believe me. I love them. It's just that this cashier thing doesn't suit me at all. It's done a pretty good job of reminding me why I decided never to work in corporate retail chains again.
Putting the work ranting aside, I think it's time for some much-needed fangirling.
Gundam AGE: So, anyone else kinda got that feeling that this week's episode was "a very special episode"? Because I thought the whole deal with Asemu and that helmet was reminiscent of an anti-drug special. I've been able to put up with Asemu's problems, but I kind of lost my patience with him, here. After getting a pep talk from Woolf-sama, I certainly hope he won't do anything that stupid again. If anything, I'm just glad that Woolf is there to be a surrogate father for him, since Flit's head is too far up his ass to do it.
Also, I got some major amusement out of Obright proposing to Remi. I know that probably damned him, but then I remember that Largan made it out of Flit's arc alive. So, hopefully, Obright will, too. I hope so, anyway, because I really like the guy. Although, that's partially because he shares a voice with YURI MOTHERFUCKING PETROV.
And can Desil just shut up and die, already?! DX
Hyouge Mono: We finally get a few more episodes, and they're pretty heavy. Sasuke finds out that Hashiba was the one who killed Nobunaga, and he's feeling pretty betrayed and angry. I can't really blame him. I've never did like that two-face. But I did enjoy the battle sequence, where Sasuke was finally able to let his feelings out on the battlefield. That was a nice touch.
And Akechi! I always had a certain fondness for him, and I felt really bad for him after getting played like that. His entire final episode was beautiful, and I'm definitely going to miss him.
Of course, while there was a lot of tragic stuff going on, we still got plenty of moments with Sasuke being a dork. There's really never a dull moment with that guy. XD
Space Brothers: This was the first of this spring's offerings, that I've sampled. It's definitely a keeper. I like that it's about adults, and I can relate to the characters and their situations. Being the oldest of three, and the biggest screw-up around, I could easily sympathize with Mutta and his issues. My sister has already accomplished what she wanted, and my brother has taken more steps than I have. So, I can tell that this show is going to have a pretty big impact on me. Also, forget Villaguilo's nickname. From now on, Mutta shall be known as "Space Kotetsu"! Not only is he voiced by Hiroaki Hirata, but Mutta and Kotetsu's personalities are very similar. So, if you're a fan of the moe oyaji, I suggest you try this one out. ^^
Zetman: I haven't read the manga for this, so I can't really comment on how fast-paced it was. The main reason why I wanted to try this one out, was so I could make references to T&B. I know we're going to timeskip, but I must say that Jin was a pretty cute kid. Akemi is awesome, and I loved that she adopted him. That was adorable! If anything, though, I'm gonna have to give the manga a look, now.
