Harry,

I received your letter. It seems that we can converse civilly. Who knew?

I’m glad you agreed about letting go of the past - at least some of it. I've even considered having my memory modified - removing the less pleasant parts. It would be wonderful to be free of the knowledge of some of what I've done.

On that subject, I'm not sure what you mean about seeing and hearing everything on the Astronomy Tower. More than that, I'm confused. Why would you even consider being my friend after that?

I doubt I'll ever understand you, Potter.

Draco.

Draco,

Back to Potter? If it makes you feel any better, I doubt I'll ever understand you either.

I saw you lower your wand. I saw the conflict on your face, the pain in your eyes as you thought - really thought - about what it would mean to kill someone. And you couldn't do it.

I heard Dumbledore offer you protection. I heard your fear, your loyalty, your love for your parents. You didn't do what you did for the wrong reasons. You just made the wrong choices.

Then you made the right one. And now you're free.

Harry.
