One year to the day it was. One year ago when they had gone on their first date. Draco smiled at the memory.

He had been so nervous, but once he knew that Harry had been just as worried, he had relaxed. They had gone out to a restaurant, had a lovely meal, and talked with ease. When it came time to say goodnight, neither had wanted to part ways. When their lips met, Draco's skin tingled and everything fell into place for him. He hadn't made it home that night. Or the next one.

With a rare exception, Harry and Draco had been inseparable since that day. Six months ago they had moved in together, and now they were celebrating their first anniversary.

Draco had made reservations at their favourite restaurant for eight o’clock; it was already seven, and there was no sign of Harry. His Quidditch team was having practices every day, going well into many evenings lately. Draco knew they were preparing for their next big game against the Cannons, but this was getting ridiculous. Harry needed to grow a backbone - a strange thing to say about the man who had destroyed Voldemort, but true nevertheless - and inform the coach that players have lives off the Quidditch pitch too.

When Harry arrived home, he was full of apologies, and gave Draco a big please forgive me kiss that promised much more, before dashing off to get ready.

It turned out well enough, because Harry didn’t need nearly as much preparation time as Draco, and as such was ready to go with five minutes to spare.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the owner gave them a knowing look and a wink before leading them into one of the private rooms in back. Draco was about to speak up when Harry leaned in to explain. "I took the liberty of altering our reservations a little bit. I hope you don‘t mind."

Draco was impressed. Here he had thought that Harry hadn’t given their anniversary a second thought. Soon he would find out just how much thought Harry had put into the night.

No menus were provided; the food and wine was automatically brought to the table. Harry had gone to the trouble of pre-ordering all of Draco’s favourites, timed at perfect intervals to allow their palates to savour each course, and provide them time to talk.

When dessert arrived, a bottle of champagne accompanied it.

"To the man I love," Harry said.

As Draco raised his glass to take a sip, he noticed that there was something inside. When he looked at Harry, he saw a sheepish and goofy grin on the other man’s face.

Before he could say anything, Harry waved his wand and the champagne disappeared to reveal a platinum band.

"Draco Malfoy, would you do me the honour of becoming my husband?"

Needing no time to think about it, Draco replied, "Yes, Harry. I will."
