The Monster under my bed was you. It always was you. I'd been harbouring this ... I don't know exactly what it was, really ... for years.
At first I wanted you to disappear. Your name haunted me.
Then I wanted you to be my friend. You refused.
Then I wanted you to fail, for me to win.
Then I wanted you to suffer, to feel pain, to pay for what you had done to my family, to me.
Then I wanted you to win. Not for your sake, but for mine. I wanted you to kill him for me.
You did it. You killed him. You didn't bring back my family or my childhood. You didn't restore my innocence. You didn't make everything right in the world. But you helped. In that instant you changed things, changed my life.
You made me want forgiveness. You forgave me.
You made me want to be your friend again. This time you said yes.
You made me want to be a better person. You helped guide me.
You made me love you. You loved me back.
Now the monster under my bed is gone. You no longer haunt me. You complete me.
