Forever the Hero
Draco entered the living room to find Harry seated on the sofa, completely enthralled with whatever show was on the telly.
"Don't touch me on my no-no zone!" a shrill voice sounded.
"What the -- What are you watching, Harry?"
"Shh!" Harry waved him off.
Draco entered the room and looked at the screen. A familiar face - the host of some Muggle talk show Harry liked to watch once in a while - was interviewing a teary woman. Honestly, why Harry had to take a mandatory two days off after the last rather eventful arrest was beyond them both. Every time Harry had to stay home, he got sucked into daytime television.
"Harry, really --"
"Shh!" he repeated. "I want to hear the rest of this."
"And what was your reaction?" the host asked.
"I was horrified, and immediately took her to the doctor."
"And what did the doctor conclude?"
"That she was play-acting. The school had a special guest in to talk to them about appropriate and inappropriate touching, and …"
"Harry, really, what is this?"
Harry finally turned away from the telly and faced Draco. He looked tired and … relieved.
"Oh, sorry. I thought that the little girl had been hurt, but … well, she wasn't. Thank goodness."
Draco had to laugh. "Harry, how many times do I have to tell you that you can't save everyone?"
"I know," he said sheepishly.
"What were you planning to do if she had been hurt?"
"I don't know." Harry shrugged. "You know me."
"Right. You'd look up the person and … well, you'd probably rope me in to do the dirty work."
Harry smiled and got up. "You'd don't fool me, Draco. You have just as soft a heart as I do."
"I do not!" Draco shot him an affronted look, but all Harry did was laugh.
"Not to worry. I won't tell a soul. Your secret's safe with me, you evil Slytherin, you."
"And in return, I've got a proposition for you," Draco offered.
"Oh, yeah. What's that?" Harry stepped closer, but Draco pulled away.
"If you can catch me, you're welcome to touch me in my no-no zone."
Draco winked and took off up the stairs, Harry hot on his trail.
