I'm curious to know who was in the group at the table. (were Ron and Hermione among the set?)

It seems Harry's begun growing up, making decisions to leave schoolfriends behind in search of real friends.

Yup, yup. It's interesting the difference between school acquaintances and life-long friends. I have a few close friends from school, but my classmates did not end up always being my life-long friends. But my truly close friends are still there, so we can hope for Harry that his will be too.
