Draco looked down at his boots, swearing as he observed the dried mud on them. "You'd better appreciate this, Potter," he grumbled under his breath. He Apparated to the third point he had listed. Merlin's balls, it's freezing here! he thought as he made his way up the mountainside.

"Stupid Gryffindor! Stupid, stupid Gryffindor!" he yelled to no one in particular.

"Malfoy?" He heard what he was sure was Harry's voice coming from inside a cave. Sure enough, a moment later he saw Harry at the opening. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to save your sorry arse and bring it back home, that's what!"

"But ... why?"

"Sorry, Potter. I've come all this way, so I get to ask the questions. What happened to you? Why haven't you been in touch with anyone? Why are you out here in this ... cave? And why do you look completely frozen through?"

"Whoa, Malfoy. One question at a time," Harry said through chattering teeth. "First, I slipped and dropped my wand. Unfortunately, it was snowing at the time, and the wind blew everything around so I couldn't see where it went, and by the time the storm subsided, it was buried. So I was waiting for the snow to melt. I couldn't contact anyone, because I had no owl and no magic at my disposal. I did, however, have a pack, so I settled in here, where I was protected from the wind."

"Accio Harry's wand," Draco called, and Harry's wand flew into his hand. "There. Now ... you forgot to tell me why you were out here in the first place."

"Er ... well I was in pursuit of one of the last suspected Death Eaters."

"Out here? Who would be out here in these conditions?"

"An old friend of Karkaroff's."

"And why were you here alone?"

"Er ..."

"No, I don't believe that's the answer I was looking for. Shall we try that again?"

"Um ... because the Ministry didn't think it was worth sending Aurors after this particular wizard at this time. Not enough proof or something like that."

"But you thought differently." Draco let out a loud sigh.

"Well, yeah. So why are you here then?" Harry asked again.

"Because you've been gone for days with no word. Everyone was worried about what had happened to you."

"But why you?"

"Why not me?"

"You really want to know?"

"No, Potter. I just asked for the amusement factor. Of course I want to know. Why the hell shouldn't it be me?"

"Well, you're a Slytherin."

"Did you figure that one out all by yourself? How brilliant of you. And ...?"

"And ... well, Slytherins aren't exactly known for their acts of courage and selflessness."

"Is that what you think this is?"

Harry looked perplexed. "Isn't it?"

"Hell no, Potter. Like you said, it's not very Slytherin-like to rush in fool heartedly to save someone else's skin. We leave that up to the Gryffindors."

"So why are you here then? What's in it for you?"

"Honestly, Potter, you are thick, aren't you?"

"Oh, so you came here to get a few more good insults in. I see now."

Draco rolled his eyes. "Oh, for the love of Merlin, Potter, here's why." Draco grabbed Potter by the shoulders and pushed him back against the cave wall. Taking advantage of Harry's stunned expression, he pressed his body against Harry's and planted a rough kiss on him. Once he was over the shock, Harry began to kiss him back.

When their tongues met, the heat generated warmed Draco to his very core. Right there, in a cave in the middle of nowhere, temperature so far below zero he was sure they couldn't measure it, Draco felt warmer than he had in a long time.

"There!" he announced as he finally broke free of the kiss. "That's why I'm here."

Harry looked utterly confounded. "Wha?"

"I have been wanting to do that for the better part of a year. Well, if I'm honest with myself, probably the better part of my life, but that's neither here nor there. What is important is that you - a stupid, stupid Gryffindor - almost denied me the chance to let you know how I felt. A Gryffindor who is so slow on the uptake that you couldn't work out all the hints I dropped - and believe me, there were many. A Gryffindor who is supposed to be the brave, fearless wizard who treads where no one else dares. A Gryffindor who is forever throwing himself into situations without thinking of the ramifications.

"I have been waiting for you to do something for almost a year! Then, just when I figure you're a lost cause, and that I need to do something rather overt myself, you take off. And if that's not enough, you end up missing. Oh, no! You were not going to deny me this. No stupid Gryffindor was going to show me --"

Harry stopped his rant by kissing him soundly.

In the back of his lust-filled mind, all Draco could think was, It's about time!.
