It's been a while, but I am writing again! I am actually enjoying writing again, which I never thought would happen. *g*
Sadly, I'm writing for a fandom that nobody else I've talked to has even heard about (until, of course, I go on and on and on about it), so, um. Here is a quick-and-dirty run-down, just so I have a handy link to pimp in the future:
MBLAQ
Korean boyband formed by Rain, a super-popular Korean idol. They debuted in 2009, and have had some pretty catchy songs, but for some reason they've never quite taken off, and remain in the second tier of Kpop bands. THIS SHOULD BE REMEDIED IMO.
MVs:
This is War (AU: Lee Joon the assassin, Thunder the best friend, and the girl that comes between them. Of course this means that I am writing assassin!AU atm, though not in this particular universe, because...yeah.)
Mona LisaStay Members:
From eldest to youngest,
1. Yang Seungho, the only one who doesn't use a stage name. He's the leader of the group both by age and personality. Quiet, hard-working, responsible, exacting; apparently he was always the one chosen to be class president in school. He's also the only member of the group to not be either the youngest of their family or an only child. (He has at least one younger brother.) He likes to eat, is incredible on the piano, can fix computers and bicycles and is a general all-around Renaissance Man.
2. Jung Byung Hee, stage name G.O. He and Seungho were born in the same year, so they can be friends and not brothers. (Apparently in Korean culture this actually matters. I'm far from an expert, so I won't even attempt to explain. XD;) He's a bit of a neat freak, obssessive about washing, and used to sport a tiny moustache which he has since abandoned. He's the main vocal of the group, with an imperturbable poker face and quite passable brains.
3. Lee Changsun, stage name Lee Joon. The group's frontman, he played a role in Ninja Assassin prior to his MBLAQ debut. On-screen, he's hilarious, energetic and a bit of an idiot, but there are suggestions that he's different off-screen. He's surprisingly sensitive -- very good at noticing when someone is upset and cheering them up. A superb entertainer, and the most popular member of the group for good reason. Of course, this also means that he has a ton of extra work on top of their already grueling schedule.
4. Park Sanghyun, stage name Cheondoong/Thunder. One of the secondary rappers/singers of the group. He's the brother of girl group 2NE1's Dara, and is treated as one of the little brothers of the group, being quieter and more introverted. He replaced MBLAQ's original 5th member only 15 days before the group debuted, and had some difficulty in doing so, being umm less naturally talented, shall we say? He has a kitten called Dadoong that is absolutely adorable! He's kind of adorable, too.
5. Bang Cheolyong, stage name Mir. Main rapper and the other little brother of the group, though in quite a different fashion: he's funny, active, often exuberant, very tactile. He came from the countryside, so they sometimes call him a farmboy. He drapes himself all over the others, initiates kisses left and right and sometimes causes other people to engage in kisses against their will. :p His older sister is Go Eun Ah, a Korean actress, and he keeps wall-to-wall manga in his room.
So, my pairing of choice is Joon/Thunder, coughcough.
[bromance]
* According to Joon, when Thunder first joined the group, it was Joon who helped him learn the songs and choreography while the other members were off having fun.
* Both Joon and Thunder suffer, or suffered, from sleep paralysis. It's said (I've seen it all over the place, but I can't trace the source) that Joon used to sleep next to Thunder sometimes because he was worried about Thunder's sleep paralysis.
* G.O. mentioned once in a radio show that he walked in on Joon and Thunder holding hands while sleeping one day.
* MBLAQ's first dorm was dreary and roach-infested; their second dorm is less depressing, but still not huge. Seungho, G.O. and Mir live in the MBLAQ dorm full time; Thunder usually lives with his family and Joon lives on his own. During promotion periods both Thunder and Joon will sleep in the dorm, but there's only one extra room, so they share that one.
[girlfriends]
* Joon seems to have had a lot of girlfriends; he had nine just during middle school, and probably at least one after their debut, since the other members knew about her. He's popular with the ladies, and told Thunder that wishes he had more guy friends -- all of his friends are girls. (Thunder: "Then what are we?" Joon: "Brother and sister -- I mean, brothers!" *embarrassed grin* Thunder: "Oh.")
* Thunder says he's never had a girlfriend, but he also recently said that he's dated before (and also that he's liked a girl but never said anything). Whether this means that the dates were one-off things that didn't blossom or that he's been lying, who knows.
* Joon might be a bit of a clingy boyfriend; it was stated in a show that he used to call his girlfriend 140 times if she didn't respond, though he added that he's improved since then, and will only call 15 times. There was this really depressing interview he did around the beginning of this year where he talked about how he was always the one getting dumped, how people got tired of him very quickly.
[issues]
* In that same interview, Joon said that 2011 was the worst year ever. Quote:
“Last year was the worst. I can’t explain everything in detail, but I was backstabbed by a person close to me, and as a result I don’t trust people as much anymore. There’s a lot that happened which I can’t reveal publicly and for me personally, last year was really difficult. I really hope that 2012 is nothing like last year. I hope 2012 will be much better. I don’t want to dream too big, as I don’t want to be disappointed. I don’t have any false hopes, I just want to slowly live a better, happier life. This is my only hope and goal for 2012.”
Which, um, yeah.
* Joon sometimes suffers from insomnia and manic-depressive cycles when he's stressed. On the other hand, sometimes he'll be sleeping all the time.
* It's circulated that Thunder's father borrowed a lot of money under Dara's name and then ran out on his family with another woman. How much of this is true, I don't know, but Thunder acts as though he never existed -- father, what father?
* Thunder was not well-received in the period after the group's debut. XD Since he joined so late, it wasn't even his voice on the album they'd recorded, although he would do the performances live. The member he'd replaced had been a rapper, so he had to pick that up as well, and he was...not good. Responses were pretty nasty in some cases. It's clear that he's worked hard since then, and even though he's not the most talented, he seems to know the dances better than anyone else, has probably practiced them the most out of anyone else.
[personality]
* Thunder can be sensitive about small things; Mir says that he once missed two of Thunder's calls, not on purpose. Thunder sent him a text: "Get lost," then, 0.2 seconds later, texted again to apologize.
He never texted Mir again for the next year and a half.
* Thunder is surprisingly shy and awkward for an idol. He used to be unable to order pizza over the phone, and would make the other members do it for him, although apparently he's made progress on that front. He says that he still can't bring himself to ask for side dish refills in restaurants.
* They are both sweethearts in wildly different ways. Joon is a shy person's godsend: he's quick to notice when someone's left out and has no problem approaching them, being utterly hilarious and drawing them out. He says that it's because he used to be that way, so he knows how they feel.
* Thunder's diffident and distant with people he doesn't know well, but he's sweet to the people he does, and if you were to -- for instance -- start playing around with a hammer, pretending to hit yourself in the head, then in the back, then in the chest, except ACTUALLY hit yourself in the chest, he would be the first to go over and make sure you were okay, help you sit, and remove the hammer to a safer place so that you would not be tempted to make a repeat performance, then return to give you a comfort pat. Seungho, of course, would be the one just laughing and laughing. (Joon has done this. Joon kills me with love.)
