Don't be Afraid of the Dark
Angry after being unexpectedly sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, Sally tries to make friends with the creatures that live under the basement and in the walls of her new home. But frienship isn't exactly what they have in mind, and they're not taking no for an answer.
Apparently this is a remake of a made for TV movie from 1973? Didn't know that until I read the entry on IMDB. For some reason a lot of people seem to really dislike this movie and I'm not sure why, except they seem to prefer the original. True, it's not a particular standout, plot-wise, but it's well acted and the characters are better written than you would think. (A child actually acting like a kid who is upset she's had to move and that dad has a new girlfriend, for instance. Though people still fall victim to horror movie stupidity.) Plus, the setting is absolutely gorgeous. You know, discounting the murderous things in the walls.
