There's apparently an invisible button (the blank space) between 'post in blog' and the envelope icon that gives you the option to change back to something non-eyesearing. More info & a useful graphic here: http://fengi.livejournal.com/1504674.html

I try not to be all 'they changed it now it sucks!' but in this case? So, so justified.
