Also, on a more bitter (and undoubtedly therefore more expected) note, if I go in to talk to my account representative about my accounts, I shouldn't need to correct her on every single specific of them. *steam* Furthermore, making all my accounts joint with my husband's surely cannot be the only solution to what I want to do. Even in a marriage, I firmly believe that each person should keep their finances as separate as possible, especially women. I can't really define it, but I just get this feeling that even now a wife's income isn't seen to be as necessary or important as her husband's. Like if you work, you're only doing it to entertain yourself until you have kids, or some nonsense like that.
To be fair, she did also suggest refinancing the mortgage to consolidate our debts. This goes back to my original complaint, about needing to correct her on our accounts. We can't refinance the mortgage, because we've had it for less than a year. Just...if someone is coming in, at your suggestion (they called us!) to discuss their accounts, maybe actually read what's on the nice screen before you open your mouth?
