Dear People of Harry Potter madness.
Ok so this entry will contain SPOILERS for those who have not read HP & TDH yet. So BEWARE!! So don't read the stuff i've left links saying 'read more' to because your life will be ruined! Warwick Davies also cancelled at Blackwells - muchos disappointment.
Ok so the fantastic things in the new HP:
1. The kissing!!! Hemione and Ron for one thing was just such a typically funny moment, Ron for once saying something nice about house elves and Hemione doing the kissing; I didn't expect that at all and it was a fantastic surprise. Then the Harry and Ginny stolen kiss on his birthday was just lovely, well written - I thought it would be a little more cheesy.
2. Dumbledore - even though he wasn't 'in' the story until the very end, the entire journey felt set up by him; knowing Ron would come back, knowing Harry would be the better man, knowing Hemione would cool Harry's crazyness.
3. The horcruxes and the hallows - I was afriad with the journey beginning it would be a 'get one horcrux, kill it, escape death, next horcrux'. But no, it worked out smoothly, I was very impressed.
4. Harry not dying - I got very angry when I thought he was dead, partly because it would have given the whole thing a complete anticlimax, depressed a lot of children, and made it a LOTR rip off. His coming back and the idea that his blood keeping Voldemort alive was what tethered him to life was brilliant. I also found the idea that Voldemort had also been the unconcious crying baby at Kings Cross whilst Harry was talking to Dumbledore really creepy and at the same time satisfying that Voldemort actually experienced being alone and wailing for someone to hold him.
5. Snape - It was predictable that he was a goodie I have to say I did think he'd have been in love with Lily, though I didn't see Dumb's planned death coming at all. The way he died was sad and terrible and I wanted more for that character in the book!
6. Harry - he was just generally a fantastic character to read him coming into his own and accepting his fate; all the times he'd been an angry teen in the previous books seemed to melt away as he become a read leader.
Things I did not like:
1. The locket horcrux - LOTR rip off!! I mean more shameless than the dementors!!! I was very upset when JK launched into the whole idea of it making the trio grumpy and grouchy and causing Ron to storm off. I was glad Ron overcame his insecurities and stabbed it though.
2. Dobby dying - ok ok, it was a great part of the story, but no!! I didn't like it and I cried loads!!!
3. The end. because it meant the end of the stories and the end of the seven books. i didn't want it to end one little bit!!
Ok, so thats me done. I want to read them all over again, and again.
Fuck it. I'm gonna go read it again....
