Is what it costs to make 10 batches of dirt cake. On sale, the ingredients came to about $10.00/batch for a total of $100.00. Then, throw in the cost for 10 buckets to put them in at $1.99/bucket + tax for about $21.00. Grand total: $121.00. Of course, I have the receipts to submit for reimbursement. Unfortunately, no. The time is voluntary on my part. And, in all honesty, the time it took multiplied by my $2.83/hour equals squat. It wouldn't even register anywhere in my paycheck. I do it because I like making it (well, not 10 batches) and everyone there likes eating it. It's more of an intrinsic reward than an extrinsic one. :)

Oh, I had the impression that you were making this stuff to serve to guests at the restaurant. I didn't get that you were making it as a treat for your coworkers. :)

*laughs* Actually, I had the same thought the first time the managers called me over to ask me to make 10 batches of it. I know that my co-workers like the stuff, but I couldn't imagine needing 10 buckets of dirt cake just for them. I was like, "Yeah, it's good, but is it good enough to give out to the guests?" :)
