Is what it costs to make 10 batches of dirt cake. On sale, the ingredients came to about $10.00/batch for a total of $100.00. Then, throw in the cost for 10 buckets to put them in at $1.99/bucket + tax for about $21.00. Grand total: $121.00. Of course, I have the receipts to submit for reimbursement. Um, you do get paid for the time you spend making them, right?

Unfortunately, no. The time is voluntary on my part. And, in all honesty, the time it took multiplied by my $2.83/hour equals squat. It wouldn't even register anywhere in my paycheck. I do it because I like making it (well, not 10 batches) and everyone there likes eating it. It's more of an intrinsic reward than an extrinsic one. :)

Oh, I had the impression that you were making this stuff to serve to guests at the restaurant. I didn't get that you were making it as a treat for your coworkers. :)

*laughs* Actually, I had the same thought the first time the managers called me over to ask me to make 10 batches of it. I know that my co-workers like the stuff, but I couldn't imagine needing 10 buckets of dirt cake just for them. I was like, "Yeah, it's good, but is it good enough to give out to the guests?" :)
